Student answer (Band 5.0)

In recent times, inflation plays a vital role in everyone's life. Majority of personnel working long hours during their shifts and they have very less time to spend on their favourite activities. In this essay I will discuss its merits and demerits and give my opinion.

To commence with, due to pandemic and goods shortages inflations are on very rate in the world. Due to that to fulfill the family demand bread earner has to work more than their regular hours. For instance some people who works in marketing or sales and in other target based jobs they have to work overtime and have to flexible according to customer timing and due to target pressure they have to work more than schedule hours due to that they have less time to spend with there families. Furthermore, companies give hire targets to their employees which required more time than regular working hours. For instance people who work in customer service based companies they have to work extra time in companies to meet the sales target. which is more harmful for there health.

However, some people think that they can earn more money if they work extra hours or on holidays. some people think that they are savings money rather than spending on unnecessary things. Also advanture sports has high chances of losing life.

To conclude that, I opine it has more cons than the pros because person have very less time to spend with there loved-onces and sometimes they feel fustrated due to workload.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the task only partially, presenting a position that is not always entirely clear. While the essay attempts to discuss the merits and demerits of people working long hours, the ideas remain limited and under-developed. For instance, the discussion on the causes of long hours mentions inflation and pandemics, but these points are not fully linked back to the core question of whether the situation has more advantages or disadvantages. Furthermore, the counter-argument regarding earning more money is abrupt and lacks sufficient explanation or specific examples. To move to a higher band, the writer needs to fully develop all parts of the task with well-supported arguments and a clearer overall position maintained throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some basic organization evident in the division into paragraphs, such as the introductory and concluding remarks, but there is no clear overall progression throughout the essay. The use of cohesive devices is frequently inadequate, inaccurate, or repetitive, as seen in the over-reliance on connectors like 'To commence with' and 'Furthermore'. Additionally, referencing is sometimes unclear, for example in sentences starting abruptly without proper logical links to the previous text, such as 'Also advanture sports has high chances of losing life.' Paragraphing is attempted, but internal paragraph cohesion requires better control and smoother transitions between ideas to ensure the reader can follow the argument effortlessly.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for the task. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'inflation', 'personnel', and 'fustrated', but noticeable errors in word choice, spelling, and word form occur throughout the text. Examples include 'very less time' instead of 'very little time', 'bread earner' instead of 'breadwinner', 'hire targets' instead of 'higher targets', and 'loved-onces'. These lexical inaccuracies and spelling mistakes cause some difficulty for the reader and restrict the score. To improve, the writer should focus on expanding their range of functional vocabulary, improving collocation awareness, and ensuring accurate word forms and spelling.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The essay displays a limited range of sentence structures, relying mostly on simple or faulty complex forms. There are frequent grammatical errors that can cause difficulty for the reader, including problems with subject-verb agreement, articles, and prepositions. Examples of these frequent errors include 'Majority of personnel working long hours' missing a main verb, 'inflations are on very rate' featuring incorrect phrasing and pluralization, 'some people who works' showing agreement errors, and 'schedule hours' instead of 'scheduled hours'. Punctuation is also problematic, with run-on sentences lacking appropriate boundaries. To achieve a higher band, the writer must demonstrate greater control over complex sentence patterns and significantly reduce the frequency of basic grammatical errors.
