Student answer (Band 7.0)
It is irrefutable that numerous people have very less leisure time because of working for longer hours. While people may increase their income and career opportunities, there could be detrimental impacts on their health, work quality and social relations.
The major advantage of this development is gaining more work experience. When individuals work long hours, they perform a task on repetitive basis due to which they become efficient. This may lead to increased chances of promotion as they gain trust of the management. Moreover, employees can improve their standard of living as they earn more income and they can afford luxurious lifestyle. For example, when workers are paid on hourly basis, they get more wages by working long shifts. Consequently, people can fulfil their desires due to increased financial stability.
On the other hand, the disadvantages of spending extra time at workplaces outweigh the benefits. The major drawback is psycological and physiological problems. Working long shifts results in tiredness, stress and frustration because workers do not have enough time to refresh their mind. Furthermore, the workers who allocate more time to their job, they usually suffer from anxiety and loneliness as they do not want to spend time with their family and friends after work. To exemplify, workholics are less likely to enjoy social activities because they feel emotionally disconnected to their surrondings. As a result, family bondings become weaker and people suffer from isolation and other medical problems.
In conclusion, although people become financially stable and get promotions at their jobs by performing their duties for extended hours, they do not enjoy their social life as they do not have time to create memories with close friends and family members.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
Your position is clear throughout: you acknowledge higher income and promotion opportunities, then argue that the disadvantages outweigh these benefits. Both sides are relevantly addressed, and examples such as hourly-paid workers earning more during long shifts help support the advantages. You also explain how limited time for family and friends can contribute to isolation, extending the central argument. This fits the descriptor for a response that addresses all parts and develops its ideas with support. To strengthen it further, make some claims more precise and less general: for instance, explain the link between repetitive work and promotion, and clarify whether long hours themselves or the lack of leisure causes the health and relationship effects.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The response is organised into a clear introduction, one paragraph for advantages, one for disadvantages, and a conclusion. The progression from financial benefits to personal costs is easy to follow, and signposts such as “Moreover,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help guide the reader. Supporting examples are generally placed alongside the points they illustrate. Some linking and reference choices are less smooth, however: “Furthermore” introduces a related consequence without clearly distinguishing it from the preceding health effects, while “they” in “the workers who allocate more time to their job, they usually suffer” creates an awkward reference structure. For stronger cohesion, connect each example explicitly to the claim it supports and vary transitions so the argument does not rely mainly on familiar signposting phrases.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.5
You use a suitable range of topic vocabulary, including “career opportunities,” “financial stability,” “emotionally disconnected,” and “social activities.” These choices help express both economic and personal consequences, and the meaning remains clear. There is also some attempt at more formal phrasing, such as “detrimental impacts.” However, several word-choice, collocation, and spelling issues limit precision: “very less leisure time” is not idiomatic, “perform a task on repetitive basis” is awkward, and “workholics,” “surrondings,” and “bondings” are misspelled or unsuitable forms. Some phrases, such as “create memories,” are understandable but less precise in this argument. Aim for natural collocations and check spelling and word forms carefully; this would build on the range already demonstrated.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 7.0
You use a range of sentence forms, including complex clauses with “While,” “When,” “because,” and “although.” Many sentences are controlled and easy to understand, such as “Consequently, people can fulfil their desires due to increased financial stability.” This shows good control alongside some persistent errors. For example, “the workers who allocate more time to their job, they usually suffer” has a faulty clause structure and unnecessary repeated subject; “on repetitive basis” is missing an article, and “they earn more income and they can afford” would be smoother with clearer coordination. The conclusion’s “although” clause is also followed by a contrast that could be expressed more directly. Continue using complex structures, but check clause boundaries, articles, and sentence connections during revision.
