Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You address the topic by discussing both possible benefits and drawbacks, including income for household needs and the effects on family time, stress, and health. However, the task asks you to decide whether the advantages or disadvantages are greater, and your conclusion says the situation has “more advantages and disadvantages” rather than giving a clear comparative judgement. Several points are also difficult to follow or insufficiently explained, such as the link between long hours and youth unemployment. The response is one word below the required minimum; the 23 words copied from the task prompt were not counted. To improve, state your position clearly in the introduction and conclusion, then develop each main reason with a relevant explanation or example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has a basic overall structure, with an opening, separate sections for advantages and disadvantages, and a conclusion. This helps the reader identify the broad topics being discussed. However, progression within paragraphs is often unclear: the advantages paragraph moves from savings and education to social respect, family illness, and happiness without showing how these points connect. Linking phrases such as “in the same way” do not make the relationship between ideas clear, and several sentences run together with limited punctuation. Use one central idea per paragraph, arrange supporting details in a logical order, and use clear transitions to show contrast or cause and effect. A conclusion that directly answers the question would also give the response a stronger sense of direction.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “leisure activities,” “savings,” “stress,” “health problems,” and “unemployment,” so the reader can recognise the main subject areas. However, the range is basic and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which sometimes makes meaning hard to understand—for example, “easy money target to money people” and “earning more money is hard be keep safe.” Spelling errors such as “stituation,” “chikd,” and “disagvantages” also reduce clarity. Build a more precise set of phrases for discussing work and wellbeing, and check spelling and word forms carefully. Prefer familiar, accurate expressions over ambitious wording that does not communicate a clear meaning.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

There are attempts to express cause and effect and to use longer sentences, for example, “if they do not have money it is difficult to face.” However, sentence structures are often incomplete or joined incorrectly, and errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and punctuation frequently make the relationships between ideas unclear. The opening sentence, “Many people work long hours, leaving very little time for leisure activities this stituation have…,” combines the prompt with an ungrammatical clause. Other examples include “those who are getting less pay it help full” and “Those who are work long hours.” Practise writing complete subject–verb sentences first, then combine them with accurate conjunctions. Check each sentence for a clear subject, a correctly formed verb, and appropriate punctuation.
