Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both sides of the question and make your position clear: the disadvantages of long working hours outweigh the benefits. Relevant effects include reduced time for hobbies, tiredness, lower productivity and strain on family relationships, while the paragraph beginning “However” acknowledges benefits such as completing work and managing staff shortages. Some points are less fully developed than others: the security-work example is linked to fatigue, but the doctor example is only briefly mentioned, and the benefits are listed rather than explained. To strengthen the response, explain how each example demonstrates the impact on leisure and weigh the benefits against those personal costs more explicitly.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, two paragraphs focused on disadvantages, a paragraph acknowledging advantages, and a concluding position. Linking expressions such as “First of all,” “Furthermore,” and “However” help signal the direction of the argument. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. For example, “An example like security jobs” does not smoothly connect the example to the preceding point, and several ideas about lost hobbies and tiredness are repeated across the body paragraphs. Improve progression by grouping related effects together and using clearer references to show how each example supports the main claim. This would make the argument easier to follow without relying so heavily on formulaic transitions.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “productivity,” “mental health,” “workload,” and “shortage of staff,” and you attempt to express a range of effects on workers. However, the range and control are limited by repeated general wording such as “long hours,” “work,” and “activities,” as well as inaccurate word choices and collocations. Phrases such as “alter person thoughts,” “souted on their loved ones,” and “throw out” make some meanings difficult to interpret. Spelling errors, including “disavantages,” “dealline,” and “miserable,” also reduce precision. Build a more accurate set of topic-specific phrases and check spelling and collocation so your ideas are expressed clearly.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “which,” “as,” and “because,” and the overall meaning is generally recoverable. However, control is inconsistent, particularly with subject–verb agreement, articles, plurals and sentence construction. Examples include “These long hours work schedule has,” “these jobs do not allows,” and “Doctors who works long shifts.” Some sentences are also incomplete or awkwardly joined, such as “An example like security jobs are with long hours of shifts … which makes them tired.” Use a reliable subject–verb check, and revise long sentences into complete clauses with clear punctuation. More accurate control of these structures would make the argument easier to read.
