Student answer (Band 6.0)

Leisure activities plays a crucial role in the life segments of every people. Nowadays, a number of people spend their valuable time to work rather than leisure activities. Mainly, it is caused by their hectic life schedule and gradually they forget to engage their free time in a better way. In this essay, this situation is not balancing a good family life for people who have less time for their leisure activities.I believe that disadvantages outweigh advantages as well.

The first and foremost fact is that most people are leading a hectic life with a lot of work pressure in their life. It's not their problem but it is caused by the irresponsibility in managing their work life and family life in a balanced way.As a result, they lost the connection between their loved ones such as family members as well as friends. For example, My uncle ram lead a hectic life since he was working in technopark, mumbai. At that time, he didn't have time to communicate with his wife to solve their family problems.Suddenly it ends with a divorce.Secondly, another disadvantage is that some people are workoholic, gradually they only have a focus to complete their work according to the rules and regulations of the company. Thus, slowly they fall into mental pressure, obesity and less sleeping hours due to their stress and strain.

However, some people like to spend more hours in work for an elite class in the society. They struggle each and everyday to make their family live like others in the society. They believe that making money helps them to get identity, self-respect and gratitude between people. But it disturbs their happiness in building a peaceful life with leisure activities such as watching movies, spending time with family in the outdoor.

In conclusion, many people spend long work hours by reducing leisure activities is not considered as a good thing. In my opinion, I can strongly state that making money is not easy but making some refreshing and rejuvenating moment with our closest ones is more important.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you state that the disadvantages outweigh the advantages, and the essay considers both sides before reaffirming this view. The discussion of strained relationships and the possible effects of work pressure is relevant, and the uncle’s experience gives one point a concrete example. However, some ideas are developed more fully than others. The disadvantages receive several explanations, while the advantages are mainly presented as earning money, gaining social identity and supporting one’s family, without much detail about when these benefits might outweigh the costs. The opening also makes broad claims about busy schedules without clearly explaining their connection to the question. Develop each main point with a clearer explanation and a specific example to make the response more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph focused on disadvantages, a paragraph acknowledging advantages, and a conclusion. Linking expressions such as “As a result,” “Secondly,” and “However” help signal the direction of the argument. At times, though, the progression feels mechanical, and some connections between ideas are unclear. For example, the sentence about people working for “an elite class” does not clearly connect to the following explanation about supporting their families. Several ideas are also crowded together in the long first body paragraph. Use clearer topic sentences, separate distinct points, and make pronouns and references explicit so readers can follow how each example supports your position.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including phrases such as “work pressure,” “mental pressure,” “self-respect,” and “refreshing and rejuvenating.” These attempts to express ideas beyond basic vocabulary are useful, and the overall meaning is generally understandable. However, some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “life segments,” “workoholic,” “less sleeping hours,” and “gratitude between people.” There are also spelling and spacing inconsistencies, including “each and everyday” and missing spaces after commas. Aim for more natural combinations and check spelling carefully; for instance, describe people as “workaholics,” and refer to “fewer hours of sleep.” This will make your argument sound more precise and fluent.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including cause-and-effect structures such as “As a result” and a conditional-style explanation of how long hours affect family life. However, errors in agreement, verb forms, articles, sentence boundaries, and punctuation are frequent enough to make some sentences awkward or difficult to follow. For example, “Leisure activities plays” has a subject–verb agreement error, and “they lost the connection” shifts tense in a general discussion. The opening also joins sentences without a space after the full stop, while “Suddenly it ends with a divorce” has an unclear subject and tense. Practise checking each sentence for a clear subject and verb, consistent tense, and correct punctuation, while keeping complex sentences manageable.
