Student answer (Band 5.5)

In today's contemprary era, a great number of people spend most of their time at work instead of to do leasiure activities. I believe that, this trend have more demerits then merits such as being less soicalize, always feel stressfull and can creates relationship problems with family and friends. I will explain my view points in following paragraphs with valid exampples.

On the one hand, people becoming less socialize because they do not spend enough time with family member and friends, they are always busy with thier work such as in doing meetings, making new projects and so on. This will also the reasons behind the conflicts between husband and wife. Moreover, when a persong is working long hours is also creates a health problems like they do not eat enough food and thier eating scedule is not good. Hence, they always feel stressfull beacuse they do not give time to themselve and to thier hobbies. Futhermore, they will be distrub not only mentally but also physical beacsue working a long hours means seating front of computer on a chair can enhance thier obesity and other healsth issues.

On the other hand, while working more hours help people to get the promotion. Becuase if persong is doing more hard work then they can get promotion and also they can increase thier knowledge about various other things regarding their jobs. Apart from this, and then can also increase thier higher income. In addition, when people work more and more then they will do thier task quickly and then they can achieve their goal faster.

In conculsion, although there are some benefits of doing woking long hours but there disadvantges can not be ignored. People should manage thier work and personal life by giving equal and enough time to both of them.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you argue that long working hours have more disadvantages, and you address both sides before concluding that work and personal life should be balanced. The disadvantages are relevant and include reduced time with family, stress, and health concerns; the possible benefits of promotion, knowledge, and higher income also respond to the question. However, some points are asserted rather than explained. For example, the link between long hours and marital conflict is mentioned but not illustrated, and the benefits paragraph lists outcomes without showing when or why they occur. Develop fewer points with a specific example or explanation, and make the comparison between the advantages and disadvantages more explicit throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for disadvantages and advantages, and a conclusion that restates your view. This makes the overall argument easy to follow. You also use signposts such as “On the one hand,” “Moreover,” and “In conclusion.” At times, however, the progression within paragraphs is less controlled. The first body paragraph moves from social life to marital conflict, eating habits, stress, and physical health without clearly showing how each point connects. Some linking phrases are also mechanical, and “Apart from this, and then” is unclear. Group related ideas and use more precise references and transitions to show cause, consequence, and contrast.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “promotion,” “higher income,” “conflicts,” and “health issues.” There are also attempts to express more specific effects, such as “obesity” and “stressful.” However, the range is limited and several spelling and word-choice errors make the writing less clear or natural, including “leasiure,” “socialize,” “distrub,” and “conculsion.” Some combinations are awkward, such as “increase their knowledge about various other things regarding their jobs” and “doing more hard work.” Build accuracy with common collocations and check spelling carefully; more precise vocabulary will help you express the effects and benefits without relying on repeated general terms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses with “because,” “when,” and “although,” and the main meaning is generally understandable. However, errors in sentence structure and grammatical forms occur across the response. For example, “this trend have” needs subject–verb agreement, while “when a persong is working long hours is also creates” has an incomplete and faulty clause structure. There are also problems with articles, plurals, and verb forms, as in “a health problems” and “they can increase their knowledge” after a singular “person.” Some sentences join several ideas with commas, making relationships unclear. Practise accurate clause construction and agreement, then proofread each sentence for articles and singular/plural forms.
