Student answer (Band 6.0)

As modern lifestyle become incrisingly demanding, some inhabitants devote a significant amount of time to their careers, leaving less opportunity to balance work life.In my perception this has more cons than the pros. In the upcoming paragraphs I will elaborate why it has more drawbacks.

There are several disadvantages to this situation. To explicit it, long working hours can damage habitat`s mental health as well as physical health. For example, if employee will spend excessive time on the job place rather than spending some time to relax themsalves or with their loved ones. As a result, they often face stress, fatigue which indirectly affect their overall wellbeing ,working capacity and productivity. Moreover, they may miss out some family functions or have little chances for them to socialtion. In this kind of situation human beings who is spending more time on working have to struggle for maintaing their friendship or other relationship.

In my opinion , there are many students and employees who combined work and study they often find it difficult to manage their responsibilite effectively when they barely have insufficient free time. This demonstrates the importance of maintaining a healthy balance between work and leisure

On the other hand, working long hours can have some advantages. Workers who spend more time at workplace offers more finacial stability. For instance, youngsters nowadays working overtime to get some promotion on their job also it gives them a chance to gain some practical experience in their life. Consequently, they may be able to afford better lifestyle and can offers financial support to their family.

In conclusion, although working long hours can provide financial and professional benefits, I believe the disadvantages outweigh the advantages because of the negative effects on health, personal relationships, and overall well-being.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear: you believe the disadvantages outweigh the advantages, and the conclusion restates this view. You address both sides of the question, giving relevant drawbacks involving health and relationships, and benefits such as financial stability and career experience. This meets the task well overall. However, some points are more fully explained than others. The health paragraph gives a cause-and-effect explanation, while the point about students combining work and study is brief and its connection to the main argument is not fully developed. To strengthen the response further, explain that example more clearly and support the advantages with a specific consequence or illustration.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph on disadvantages, a paragraph on advantages, and a conclusion. Linking phrases such as “Moreover,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help signal the direction of the argument. However, progression is uneven in places. The paragraph beginning “In my opinion” introduces students balancing work and study as a separate point, but it is not clearly connected to the preceding discussion of health and relationships. Some links are also mechanical, and the sentence about stress and fatigue runs into the next idea without clear punctuation. Group related points into focused paragraphs and use clearer references to show how each example supports your position.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt vocabulary suited to the topic, including “financial stability,” “practical experience,” “overall wellbeing,” and “maintaining a healthy balance.” These choices help communicate the main ideas. However, inaccurate spelling, word forms, and collocations are noticeable and sometimes make the reader pause: “incrisingly,” “habitat`s mental health,” “socialtion,” and “offers financial support” are examples. Some expressions are also imprecise, such as “little chances for them to” and “better lifestyle.” Aim for accurate, natural combinations rather than more complicated wording; proofreading spelling and checking whether a phrase fits its context will improve clarity and control.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use both simple statements and attempts at more complex structures, including “although working long hours can provide…” and the cause-and-effect explanation beginning “As a result.” The overall meaning is generally understandable, but some sentence structures and grammatical forms are not controlled consistently. For example, “if employee will spend” has an incorrect conditional construction, and “human beings who is spending” has a subject–verb agreement error. The sentence beginning “In my opinion” is also difficult to follow because its clauses are not clearly connected. Review articles, agreement, verb forms, and sentence boundaries, and practise building complex sentences with one clear main clause.
