Student answer (Band 6.0)
In the contemproray world people work more hours to full fill their needs and wants. While this trend has clear benefits, I believe its drawbacks are more significant. This essay will examine both sides of working long shifts.
On the one hand, doing over-time when a company needs to complete a project in a particular time frame shows loyalty and dedication. Therefore, it increase the chances of getting promoted or pay raise in future. Moving further, staying till late helps to generate more income which hepls to fullfill needs and wants. For instance, Ram wants to buy a new Iphone and he knows if he will work extra for few days he can get that phone, that would give him motivation to also achieve something bigger in life if he complete this task and get his reward.
On the other hand, every family needs time therefore if one just keeps on working and do not focus on family members he/she will loose lot in the end. For instance, if childrens do not get attention from parents they might fail later in life. Kids needs guidance and love from parents to become successful and kind. Secondaly, sitting long hours on chair or doing physical work both will exhaust the body. Thus health would be at risk, everybody should find some time to workout daily otherwise financial freedom also does not matter if can not be enjoyed with well being. Moreover, spending all the time just working can kill the opportunity to learn new skill. As a result, the person would lack of talent which help him get higher positon.
To conclude, it is better for everyone to mange work life balance. Just working extra hours can not help to grow big. Whereas, the ability of working hard should be use smartly, which can be more focus on learning and finding some time for stay fit. At the end all human beings have limited time on earth thus free time is really crucial to live life.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear from the introduction: although long hours can bring benefits, you consider the disadvantages more significant. You address both sides and support them with relevant points, including promotion and extra income, reduced family attention, health risks, and less time to learn. The family and health arguments are the most persuasive because you explain their consequences. However, the benefits paragraph relies heavily on the hypothetical iPhone example, and the point about missing opportunities to learn is not fully connected to the effects of long working hours. The conclusion restates your view but shifts towards general work-life advice. Develop each main idea more evenly and link examples directly to why the disadvantages outweigh the benefits.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for advantages and disadvantages, and a conclusion. The contrast between “On the one hand” and “On the other hand” helps readers follow the argument, while “For instance” introduces examples. This coherent arrangement supports the progression of your position. At times, however, connections feel mechanical or unclear. “Moving further” does not clearly signal how the next benefit relates to the first, and “Secondaly” introduces another disadvantage without a smooth link to the family point. The final paragraph also moves quickly from work-life balance to learning and fitness. Use more precise transitions and make the relationship between each claim and its supporting explanation explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to discuss work and its effects, including “loyalty and dedication,” “financial freedom,” “guidance,” and “work life balance.” These choices help communicate the main ideas, and you attempt some less common expressions. However, noticeable spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision, such as “contemproray,” “full fill,” “hepls,” “loose,” and “positon.” Some phrases are also unnatural or imprecise: “complete a project in a particular time frame,” “lack of talent,” and “grow big.” Aim for accurate spelling and natural collocations, and choose words that express the intended meaning precisely. Proofreading and learning common word partnerships for work, health, and family would make your vocabulary more effective.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including conditional structures such as “if one just keeps on working” and a relative clause in “the person would lack of talent which help him.” This shows an effort to express causes and consequences, and the overall meaning is generally understandable. Some grammatical errors remain, particularly with subject–verb agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence construction. For example, “it increase” should use a verb agreeing with “it,” while “Kids needs” has a plural subject with a singular verb. The sentence beginning “if he will work extra” also needs a more appropriate conditional form. Review agreement and conditional patterns, and check that each sentence has a complete, correctly formed clause.
