Student answer (Band 6.0)
Work has become an indispensable part of people's lives. Nowadays, People work more hours due to too much workload, which gives them tiny amount of free time for their hobbies and activities, which they like. I personally affirm that it has more demerits than merits. I would outline my postion in the forthcoming paragraphs.
Discussing about disadvantages, it is necessary to spend quality time with the love ones. If people work long shift, they will tired and frustrated at the end of the day. So they do not have energy and time to spend with their family. It makes relestionship weaker. Times of india article says that divorce rate has been surged in india, because people spend more than 12 hours per day at the workplace. Moreover, people need fresh mind to do efficiant and smart work, which always comes from leisure activities like playing games, listening music, and etc. If they work for long hour, which makes their life boaring, and less exciting. Eventually, it deteriorates their productity at workplace, which causes issues during the promtion time.
Furthermore, mental health is extremely significant in today's time. Work load is the biggest culprit among the people for illness like stress, anxity, and depression, which encourage people to work long hour to complete their job before deadline. Some reports says that 60% of mentally disable people in the globe today, which used to work 15-16 hours per day.
In conclusion, It is extremelly important in the life that people should explore or spend time for those things which they like. Work for long hours makes relestionship weak with their love ones, often affects on their performance at work place, and some times they suffer from any menal illness.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear from the introduction: you believe the disadvantages of long working hours outweigh the advantages. You address several relevant consequences, including weaker family relationships, reduced workplace performance and mental-health problems, and you support these points with examples and a reported statistic. This meets the task well, though the support is uneven: the relationship and productivity points are explained more fully, while the mental-health paragraph makes a broad claim without clearly showing how long hours cause the listed conditions. The task asks for a comparison of advantages and disadvantages, but you focus almost entirely on disadvantages. To strengthen the response, briefly acknowledge a possible benefit, such as higher earnings or career progress, then explain why the harms still outweigh it. Develop the evidence carefully rather than relying on unsupported generalisations.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. The ideas generally progress from effects on family life and work to mental health, and signposts such as “Moreover,” “Furthermore” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the argument. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. For example, “If they work for long hour, which makes their life…” is not smoothly linked to the preceding point, and the mental-health paragraph’s claim about illness and working long hours is difficult to follow logically. The conclusion repeats the main points but does not bring the comparison of advantages and disadvantages together. Use clearer links between cause and effect, and make each paragraph’s central point explicit before adding supporting details.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of vocabulary for the topic, including “indispensable,” “leisure activities,” “deteriorates” and “deadline.” These choices help communicate your main concerns about work, relationships and health. However, inaccurate spelling and word choice are noticeable and sometimes make the reader pause: examples include “postion,” “relestionship,” “boaring,” “productity” and “menal illness.” Some phrases are also unnatural, such as “the love ones,” “fresh mind” and “work for long hour.” Aim for accurate, natural collocations and check spelling carefully; this will make your meaning more precise without requiring more complicated vocabulary. You can also avoid vague wording such as “and etc.” by naming a specific leisure activity.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including conditional structures such as “If people work long shift…” and relative clauses such as “activities, which they like.” However, control is inconsistent, and errors occur in basic sentence patterns as well as longer constructions. For instance, “they will tired” needs a verb form such as “they will be tired,” while “Some reports says” has a subject–verb agreement error. The sentence beginning “If they work for long hour, which makes…” is also structurally incomplete. Articles, plurals and punctuation need attention, as in “a tiny amount,” “long shifts” and the inconsistent capitalisation after full stops. Practise building accurate clauses first, then combine them using varied structures and proofread for agreement and sentence boundaries.
