Student answer (Band 4.5)
I strongly believe that making time for ourselve is very important because doing some fun and some workout sometime make our mind stable and it has many advantages like if i play any sports or if i do any kind of activitie it will make my mind relaxe and my brain will realise happy hormones which helps me in longer run and on the other hand if i talk about disadvantages then are many disadvantages of working for late hours like they will be rude and mind will be in stress always and they could not find anything interesting. moreover being active is the key to happiness and make your everyday better.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You express a relevant view that leisure and exercise are important, and you mention possible harms of long working hours, such as stress and reduced interest in activities. However, the response only minimally addresses the question of whether the situation has more advantages or disadvantages: it does not clearly compare the two sides or state a developed overall judgement. The ideas about sports, “happy hormones,” and stress are asserted rather than explained with specific reasons or examples. The response is also substantially below the required 250 words, so there is not enough development to fulfil the task. To improve, state directly which side outweighs the other, explain the effects in detail, and support them with a relevant example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is a basic line of thought: you begin with the value of personal time, then refer to disadvantages of working late, and finish with a general statement about being active. Linking expressions such as “because,” “on the other hand,” and “moreover” show an attempt to connect ideas. However, the response is one long sentence-like paragraph, so the reader cannot easily distinguish the main argument from supporting points. Some links are also unclear: “then are many disadvantages” does not form a complete transition, and the final point about being active is not clearly tied to the comparison in the question. Use separate paragraphs for your position, supporting reasons, and conclusion, and make each linking phrase express a clear relationship.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “leisure activities,” “sports,” “stress,” and “active,” and the main meaning is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, particularly “mind” and “disadvantages.” Some choices are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “make my mind relaxe,” “realise happy hormones,” and “in longer run”; these make parts of the message harder to follow. Spelling and word-form errors, including “ourselve,” “activitie,” and “relaxe,” also reduce accuracy. Build a wider set of precise expressions for work-life balance and its effects, and check spelling and collocations before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt to connect several ideas using clauses with “because,” “if,” and “on the other hand,” which shows some effort to move beyond simple sentences. However, the response relies heavily on one extended sentence, and the complex structure is often faulty. For example, “if i play any sports or if i do any kind of activitie it will make…” needs clearer clause boundaries and punctuation; “then are many disadvantages” is missing a grammatical subject, while “they will be rude” has an unclear pronoun reference. Capitalisation of “I” and sentence punctuation are also inconsistent. Practise writing shorter, complete sentences first, then combine them accurately, checking subject–verb structure and clear pronoun references.
