Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt: explaining your suitability, offering additional help, and stating your reasons for wanting the position. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a family. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, while you mention having five years of experience, you could have elaborated on the specific age groups you have taught or the methods you use to make the language learning 'easy'. To reach a higher band, ensure that your supporting details are more descriptive and fully developed to provide the reader with a clearer picture of your capabilities.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter follows a logical structure, with each paragraph focusing on one of the required points. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'Apart from this' and 'The reason why', to link your ideas. However, the flow is occasionally hindered by mechanical phrasing and some awkward transitions. For example, the start of the second paragraph is slightly abrupt. To improve, try to use a wider variety of linking words and ensure that your sentences connect more naturally to one another, rather than relying on simple, repetitive structures.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for this task, using terms like 'supportive environment' and 'cultural exchange'. However, there are several instances of word-choice errors and awkward collocations, such as 'lent my helping hand toward small household work' (should be 'lend a hand with') and 'I would feel delight' (should be 'I would be delighted'). Additionally, there are minor errors in word formation, such as 'inform you that i am interested to apply this position' (should be 'apply for'). Expanding your vocabulary to include more precise collocations would significantly improve your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is good. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, particularly with articles (e.g., 'in easy way'), prepositions (e.g., 'apply this position'), and subject-verb agreement. There are also punctuation issues, such as missing commas and the failure to capitalize the pronoun 'I'. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, they are frequent enough to impact the overall fluency. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for small errors would help you achieve a higher band.
