Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt: explaining your suitability, offering additional help, and stating your reasons for wanting the job. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter. However, the development of ideas is somewhat basic. For instance, while you mention your experience, providing a specific example of a teaching method or a particular age group you have worked with would have made your argument more persuasive. The letter covers the requirements well enough to be considered a solid attempt, but it lacks the depth of detail that would elevate it to a higher band score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each focusing on one of the required points. You use some cohesive devices like 'Apart from teaching language' and 'further more' to link ideas. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical, and there are issues with punctuation, such as missing spaces after commas and periods, which disrupts the flow of reading. The transition between sentences could be smoother; for example, the jump from teaching methods to household chores is a bit abrupt. Improving your use of linking words and ensuring consistent paragraph structure will help improve your score.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You have an adequate range of vocabulary to convey your message, using terms like 'native language', 'advertisement', and 'household work'. However, there are several spelling errors throughout the text, such as 'belive', 'experince', 'Australlin', 'traditon', and 'wolud'. These errors are frequent enough to be noticeable. To reach a higher band, you should aim for more precise vocabulary related to the teaching profession and ensure that your spelling is accurate. While your meaning is always clear, the lack of precision and the recurring spelling mistakes limit the score in this category.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Common issues include missing articles ('apply for position', 'in education field'), incorrect verb forms ('I had three year experience' instead of 'three years of experience'), and consistent punctuation errors, such as failing to capitalize 'I' and missing spaces after punctuation marks. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, they occur frequently enough to impact the overall quality of the writing. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for capitalization and spacing will significantly improve your accuracy.
