Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

You have addressed all three bullet points required by the task: explaining your suitability, offering additional help, and stating your reasons for wanting the job. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter, and the purpose is clear from the beginning. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For example, while you mention your MA in French, you could have elaborated more on your specific teaching methodology or experience with children to make your application more persuasive. The letter covers the requirements sufficiently to meet the criteria for a Band 6.0, as all parts are addressed, though some areas could be developed with more detail.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The letter is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each focusing on a specific aspect of the prompt. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'Apart from this' and 'while', to connect your ideas. However, the flow is occasionally hindered by minor errors in sentence structure and referencing. For instance, the transition between your academic background and your teaching goals is a bit abrupt. The use of paragraphing is appropriate, and the overall progression of the letter is easy to follow, which aligns with the descriptors for Band 6.0.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'tutor', 'effectively', and 'opportunity'. However, there are several spelling errors ('collage' instead of college, 'neary' instead of nearby, 'tution' instead of tuition, 'decrass' instead of decrease) and some awkward word choices ('lite cleaning'). These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of your writing. To reach a higher band, focus on accurate spelling and more sophisticated collocations related to employment and education.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as 'It would be a great opportunity for me to work part-time... which will help me to cover my tuition fees'. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('childrens' instead of children, 'helps to you' instead of helps you) and incorrect article usage. While these errors are noticeable, they rarely prevent the reader from understanding your message. Improving your control over basic grammar and pluralization will help you achieve a higher score.
