Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The letter addresses all three bullet points required by the prompt: suitability, additional help, and reasons for applying. However, the development of these ideas is quite basic. For instance, the explanation of why you are suitable is limited to saying you can teach the language, and the reasons for wanting the job are somewhat generic. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your specific teaching experience or qualifications and provide more detailed reasons for your interest in the Australian culture. The tone is generally appropriate for a letter to a family, though the opening 'Hello friend' is a bit informal for a job application.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is organized into clear paragraphs, each focusing on one of the required points. There is a logical progression of ideas. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat limited and repetitive. You rely heavily on simple conjunctions like 'and' or 'also'. To improve, try using a wider variety of linking words and phrases such as 'furthermore', 'consequently', or 'in addition to this' to connect your sentences more fluidly. The referencing is generally clear, but the transition between the introduction and the body paragraphs could be smoother to improve the overall flow of the letter.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. You use basic terms like 'fun', 'simple', and 'easy' repeatedly. There are also some awkward collocations, such as 'I am also tech to your children', which is unclear. To improve, you should aim to use more specific vocabulary related to teaching and childcare, such as 'pedagogical approach', 'engaging', or 'supervision'. While the meaning is generally conveyed, the limited range of vocabulary prevents the response from reaching a higher band. Focus on learning synonyms for common adjectives and verbs.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex sentence structures. There are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'I am always fun with your children' (should be 'I am good at making learning fun') and 'I am also enjoy with your children' (should be 'I also enjoy spending time with your children'). Subject-verb agreement and word order issues are present throughout the text. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to be noticeable. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for verb forms would significantly improve the accuracy of your writing.
