Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear sir or madam,
I hope you are doing well. I want to inform you that I have recently seen an ad from you for training your kids Punjabi language in 12 months and I would be happy to take this responsibility.
As I was born in Punjab, Punjabi is my mother-tongue. I had been studying this language in school since grade 1, so I know everything about it that includes grammar, speaking, writing and reading. Hence, I could be a good trainer for your children.
In addition, I could provide them classes according to your schedule and flexibility. If young ones are comfortable at home, I can travel and teach them at their comfort zone. Moreover, your time will be saved by this.
Actually, I love teaching and I don't have job currently. I really need a work for my living in this foreign country and teaching your children would be great option for me. Additionally, I would enjoy this work and help your children to achieve their goal.
Please reach me out for more information. Looking forward to your response.
Thank you.
Yours faithfully,
Dilkashdeep Kaur

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses all three bullet points of the prompt effectively. You clearly explain your suitability by highlighting your background as a native Punjabi speaker and your formal education in the language. You also suggest helpful additional services, such as traveling to the family's home for convenience. Your reasons for wanting the job are clearly stated, although they are somewhat personal in nature. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter, though the opening 'Dear sir or madam' is slightly generic given the prompt mentions a 'couple'. Overall, the task is fully completed with relevant and well-developed ideas.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter is logically organized with a clear progression of ideas. Each paragraph focuses on a specific aspect of the prompt, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use a variety of cohesive devices such as 'In addition', 'Moreover', and 'Actually' to link your sentences. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical or repetitive. The paragraphing is appropriate, and the letter follows a standard structure from the opening salutation to the sign-off. To improve, try to vary your linking words further to ensure the flow feels more natural and less like a list of points.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'mother-tongue', 'flexibility', and 'responsibility' correctly. There are some minor issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'reach me out' (should be 'reach out to me') and 'need a work' (should be 'need work' or 'a job'). While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, it lacks the more sophisticated or precise collocations that would push the score into the higher bands. Focusing on natural phrasing and idiomatic expressions will help improve your lexical range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. There are some grammatical errors, such as 'I don't have job currently' (missing an article) and 'training your kids Punjabi language' (should be 'teaching your children the Punjabi language'). Additionally, 'comfort zone' is used slightly inaccurately in this context; 'convenience' would be more natural. Despite these errors, your meaning is always clear, and the mistakes do not impede communication. To reach a higher band, focus on article usage and ensuring subject-verb agreement remains consistent throughout your writing.
