Student answer (Band 5.5)
Dear Sir,
I hope you are doing well. I am writing to express my interest to teach your children to language for a year. Actually, I saw this advertisement from the internet you live in Australia and want to teach your children their culture language Punjabi, and I also belong to Punjab and my profession is also teaching.
Apart from it, I am providing online classes and in person classes from few years. That is why, This profession meet with my online coaching classes.
My monthly charge is $1000 dollar. If enroll three person for online class then one person take free class. I think is ideal deal for three person who learn new language.
Although, I live in Punjab but I really interest to know about new culture and festival which held in the Australia.
Please let me know if you give chance to me to teach their children.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to your response.
Kind regards,
Jaspreet Kaur.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt: your suitability, additional help, and your motivation. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For example, while you mention your profession, you do not elaborate on your teaching style or experience with children. The section regarding your monthly charge and the 'deal' for three people is slightly confusing and perhaps unnecessary for this type of letter, as it sounds more like a business advertisement than a personal application. To improve, focus on expanding your personal suitability and your genuine interest in the family's cultural exchange, rather than focusing on financial negotiations in the initial contact.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter follows a logical structure with a clear opening and closing. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'Apart from it' and 'Although', but the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical. Paragraphing is present, but some paragraphs are very short, which disrupts the flow of your argument. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the sentence 'This profession meet with my online coaching classes,' where the connection to the previous point is weak. To reach a higher band, try to use a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph develops a single, clear idea.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'culture language' instead of 'native language' or 'cultural language', and 'I really interest' instead of 'I am really interested'. You rely on basic vocabulary, and some word choices are slightly unnatural in this context. To improve, focus on using more accurate collocations and ensure you are using the correct word forms (e.g., adjectives vs. verbs). Expanding your range of descriptive language would also help convey your enthusiasm more effectively.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the letter that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'interest to teach your children to language' (should be 'teach your children my language'), 'in person classes from few years' (should be 'for a few years'), and 'If enroll three person' (should be 'If you enroll three people'). You rely mostly on simple sentence structures, and your attempts at more complex sentences often contain errors in subject-verb agreement or preposition usage. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like pluralization and verb tense would significantly improve your score.
