Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The letter addresses all three bullet points: suitability, additional help, and reasons for wanting the job. However, the development of these ideas is quite limited and repetitive. For instance, the explanation of suitability is vague, and the reasons for wanting the job are expressed in a very basic manner. The response lacks the professional tone required for a formal letter to a potential employer. While the content is relevant, the lack of depth and the informal, fragmented nature of the sentences mean that the task is only partially addressed in terms of quality and professional expectation.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The letter is divided into paragraphs, which is a positive step, but the internal structure of these paragraphs is weak. There is a lack of logical progression between sentences. Cohesive devices are either missing or used incorrectly, such as the repetitive use of 'i' and 'and'. The transition between ideas is often abrupt, making the text feel like a collection of disjointed thoughts rather than a cohesive letter. The referencing is also unclear at times, particularly in the second and third paragraphs, which hinders the overall flow of the message.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is very limited and repetitive. The student relies on basic words like 'good', 'help', and 'job' throughout the text. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'I want to enjoyable' instead of 'I enjoy' and 'give the good advice'. The range is insufficient to express complex ideas or professional intentions effectively. The spelling of 'australia' should be capitalized, and the overall lack of variety in word choice prevents the response from reaching a higher band score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the letter, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('I will lot of care'), incorrect verb forms ('I want to enjoyable'), and missing articles. Sentence structures are mostly simple and often fragmented. Punctuation is inconsistent, with many sentences lacking proper capitalization and ending punctuation. These errors are frequent and occasionally cause difficulty for the reader in understanding the intended meaning. A wider range of complex structures is needed to improve the accuracy and fluency of the writing.
