Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The letter addresses all three bullet points: suitability, additional help, and reasons for wanting the job. However, the development is limited and repetitive. The tone is inconsistent; while the task asks for a letter to a couple, the opening 'Dear Sir' is inappropriate for a personal advertisement. The explanation of suitability is vague, relying on general claims rather than specific pedagogical skills. The reasons for wanting the job are also somewhat unclear, focusing more on the writer's availability than a genuine interest in the family or the children's development. To improve, the response needs more professional language and a clearer structure that directly addresses the prompt's requirements with more depth.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The letter is organized into paragraphs, but the flow between ideas is disjointed. The use of cohesive devices is mechanical and sometimes inaccurate, such as the repetitive use of 'So that' and 'Whenever' (used incorrectly to mean 'Also' or 'Furthermore'). The progression of ideas is hindered by the lack of logical transitions between the introduction, the body paragraphs, and the conclusion. While the reader can follow the general intent, the lack of sophisticated linking words makes the text feel fragmented. Improving the use of transition signals like 'Furthermore', 'In addition', and 'Consequently' would significantly enhance the logical flow of the letter.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is basic and repetitive, which limits the ability to convey a professional tone. There are several instances of word-choice errors, such as 'I am teacher' (missing article), 'I speak to all language easily' (incorrect collocation), and 'fully free of mind' (non-standard expression). The range of vocabulary is narrow, relying on simple, high-frequency words. To reach a higher band, the student should focus on using more precise terminology related to teaching and employment, as well as improving the accuracy of collocations. The current level of vocabulary is sufficient for basic communication but lacks the flexibility required for a higher score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement, article usage ('I am teacher'), and tense consistency ('Today morning I seen'). Sentence structures are mostly simple, and attempts at complex sentences are often marred by errors, such as 'I want your children after one month they speak french'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing capital letters and incorrect spacing. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of basic errors in grammar and syntax prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. Focusing on sentence construction and basic proofreading would be highly beneficial.
