Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The letter covers all three bullet points required by the prompt. You explain your suitability by mentioning your language knowledge and teaching experience, outline additional help like cooking and childcare, and provide clear reasons for wanting the job, such as experiencing Australian culture and career development. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter, although the salutation 'Dear Sir' is slightly generic given the prompt specifies a 'couple'. To reach a higher band, ensure that your ideas are slightly more developed; for instance, providing a specific example of a teaching game would strengthen your argument for suitability.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each focusing on a specific requirement of the task. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'Apart from that', and 'In addition' to link your ideas. While the progression of ideas is clear, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive. To improve, try to vary your linking words and ensure that the transition between sentences feels more natural. The paragraphing is sufficient and helps the reader follow your argument easily throughout the letter.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'position', 'experience', and 'occupation'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'do cooking' instead of 'cook' or 'do some household works' (household chores). You also use 'good tricks to learn words', which is quite informal and imprecise. To achieve a higher score, focus on using more precise collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing. The vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, but it lacks the sophistication required for higher bands.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. For example, 'I good knowledge' is missing a verb, 'I am also want to talk' is grammatically incorrect, and 'the best way for the income' is awkward. There are also minor errors with articles and prepositions, such as 'experience Australia life' instead of 'experience Australian life'. While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and correct verb forms will significantly improve your accuracy.
