Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear John,
I am writing to express my interest in the advertisement I saw on social media for the education of your children in the local language. I speak multiple languages and would love to teach your kids.
Let me explain in more detail. I am a full-time teacher in this neighbourhood. Also, I am a favourite teacher for my students. I usually play sports with them whenever I get some free time that's how I am very much involved. I am pretty sure your kids will easily connect with me.
Moreover, I do provide daycare services if you want to drop your kids off with me at my centre. That's how most of the parents get some extra time to work on themselves, worry-free. Additionally, this will help them to get more depth of the langauge as they listen more and try to adapt the rhythm how it should be spoken.
Finally, I would say that I am very much free because of this summer vacation and would love to educate as well as spend some time with the children. I hope to hear some positive news from you.
Yours faithfully,
Yash.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt: explaining your suitability, offering additional services, and stating your reasons for wanting the job. The tone is generally appropriate for a letter of application. However, the development of ideas is somewhat basic. For instance, while you mention being a 'favourite teacher', you could have provided more specific examples of your teaching methodology or experience with children to make your application more persuasive. The letter covers the requirements, but the depth of information provided is limited, which keeps this in the mid-range of task achievement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each focusing on a specific part of the task. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'Additionally', and 'Finally' to transition between ideas. However, some of the linking is a bit mechanical, and the flow between sentences could be improved to sound more natural. For example, the transition between your daycare services and the benefit to the children's language acquisition is a bit abrupt. Overall, the message is easy to follow, and the paragraphing is used effectively to structure the letter.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary to convey your message, such as 'express my interest', 'daycare services', and 'adapt the rhythm'. However, the vocabulary is somewhat repetitive and lacks the sophistication required for a higher band. There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'get more depth of the language' (which should be 'gain a deeper understanding of the language') and 'adapt the rhythm' (where 'adopt' or 'master' might be more precise). The range is sufficient for the task but does not demonstrate a wide variety of less common lexical items.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are several grammatical errors and awkward phrasings. For example, 'that's how I am very much involved' is informal and grammatically weak. You also have issues with article usage and prepositions, such as 'the langauge' (spelling error) and 'the rhythm how it should be spoken' (which is clunky). While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. You should focus on refining your sentence construction and proofreading for minor slips.
