Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 8.0
The letter successfully addresses all three bullet points in the prompt. You clearly explain your suitability by highlighting your mother tongue and experience with children. You also effectively detail additional contributions, such as cooking and helping with school projects, and provide logical reasons for wanting the job, specifically cultural exchange and financial support for your studies. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter to a family. The ideas are well-developed and relevant, ensuring the reader understands your motivation and capabilities. The response is well-structured and covers all requirements of the task effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5
The letter is logically organized with a clear progression of ideas. Each paragraph focuses on a specific aspect of the prompt, which helps the reader follow your points easily. You use a range of cohesive devices such as 'Apart from', 'Moreover', and 'Whereas' to link your sentences and paragraphs. While the transition 'Whereas' is used slightly awkwardly in the final paragraph, the overall flow remains smooth. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the introduction, body, and conclusion, which contributes to the overall readability of the letter.
Lexical Resource — Band 7.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task. Phrases like 'culinary skills', 'actively engaged', and 'golden opportunity' show a good command of language. There are some minor slips, such as 'manage my finances' which is acceptable but could be more precise, and the phrasing 'Adding on' is slightly informal. However, the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly and effectively throughout the letter. You avoid repetition and use a variety of words to describe your skills and motivations, which is positive for this level.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures effectively. Most of your sentences are error-free, though there are a few minor slips, such as 'It would be easy for my to teach' (should be 'me') and 'I am really interested to get this job' (could be 'in getting'). Punctuation is generally accurate, and the formal tone is maintained throughout. The grammatical errors present are non-systematic and do not impede communication, allowing the reader to understand your message without difficulty. You show good control over sentence construction.
