Student answer (Band 7.0)
Dear sir/madam,
I hope you both are fit and fine. I saw your advertisement on one of my social media platforms regarding the job of a tutor for your children and I am extremely interested to be a part of it and that’s the sole purpose behind writing this letter to you.
Firstly, I am a proficient English and French language teacher in a school. I would be a perfect match for your kids as I would provide them with a variety of learning two languages at a time. Additionally, I would be available in person or online both whichever medium suits them as I am a local residing nearby.
Furthermore, I would also help them prepare assignments, homework, play with them or prepare them meals if you aren’t available because of prior commitments. I would also take care of your house and you can rely on me.
I am a part-time teacher and a student both and as I need to take care of my tuition fees, this job would be a golden opportunity for me to overcome those obstacles. It would also provide a stability towards developing my career in future. I have also attached my resume with all my details.
Hope to get a prompt and positive feedback from your side.
Yours sincerely,
Iqra

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5
You have successfully addressed all three bullet points in the prompt. You clearly explained your suitability as a teacher, offered additional help with household tasks, and provided a clear motivation for wanting the job. The tone is appropriate for a letter of application, and the purpose is clear from the outset. To improve, you could expand slightly on your teaching methodology or specific experience to make your candidacy more compelling. Overall, the response is well-focused and meets all the requirements of the task.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter is logically organized with clear paragraphing. Each paragraph focuses on a specific aspect of the prompt, which helps the reader follow your argument easily. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Additionally', and 'Furthermore' to link your ideas. However, the transition between the second and third paragraphs could be smoother. The use of referencing is generally clear, though some sentences are slightly repetitive in structure. Overall, the flow is logical and easy to follow throughout the letter.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your message clearly. Phrases like 'proficient language teacher' and 'golden opportunity' are used effectively. There are some minor issues with collocation, such as 'provide a stability towards developing my career', which sounds slightly unnatural. While your vocabulary is adequate for the task, incorporating more precise or sophisticated collocations would elevate your score. The spelling is accurate throughout the text, and your word choice is generally appropriate for a formal letter.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is good. There are some minor grammatical slips, such as 'I hope you both are fit and fine' (which is slightly informal and awkward) and 'provide them with a variety of learning two languages' (which should be 'provide them with the opportunity to learn'). Punctuation is generally correct, though the opening salutation 'Dear sir/madam' should be capitalized. Despite these minor errors, your meaning is always clear, and the grammar does not impede communication.
