Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear lovely couple,
I am writing this letter to inform about my interest in teaching my language to your children.
I have been tutoring the Hindi language since last five years so I have hands on experience for this field. I am perfect for this role because I know how to teach children from basic. Moreover, as I am teacher I l also learned English in order to teach my mother toung to international student
There are many thing I can do for your family. The first thing is that you can get discount on my course as you are from outside. The second thing is that I can also teach my culture such as cooking, singing and Sports.
I have started my online course but I don't have more student from outside of my country so I want international students. It will help to gain experience and I would love to teach my mother language and take to the global level.
Thank you for posting advertisement and I hope I will get response from you soon.
Kind regards,
Hardeepsinh Raj

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The letter covers all three bullet points required by the prompt. You explain your suitability by mentioning your five years of tutoring experience, suggest additional contributions like teaching culture and cooking, and provide your motivation for wanting the job. However, the development of these points is somewhat basic. For instance, the explanation of why you are suitable could be more detailed regarding your teaching methodology. The tone is generally appropriate for a letter to a family, although the opening 'Dear lovely couple' is slightly unconventional for a formal job application. Overall, the task is addressed adequately.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your ideas. You use some basic cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'The first thing is that', and 'The second thing is that'. While these are functional, they are somewhat repetitive and mechanical. The progression of ideas is logical, moving from your experience to what you can offer and finally your reasons for applying. To improve, try to use a wider variety of linking words and ensure that the transition between sentences feels more natural rather than relying on numbered lists.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, such as 'tutoring', 'hands-on experience', and 'global level'. However, there are several inaccuracies and spelling errors, such as 'mother toung' (mother tongue) and 'many thing' (many things). Some word choices are slightly unnatural, such as 'from basic' instead of 'from the basics' or 'international student' instead of 'international students'. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, they do limit the precision of your writing. Expanding your vocabulary to include more idiomatic expressions or precise collocations would improve your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include 'since last five years' (should be 'for the last five years'), 'as I am teacher' (missing article 'a'), and 'I don't have more student' (should be 'more students'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some missing periods at the end of sentences. While the meaning remains clear, the frequency of these errors indicates a need for more careful proofreading and a better grasp of articles, pluralization, and verb tenses.
