Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I hope you are well. As I have seen an advertisement on Instagram, you are looking for someone who is willing to teach our language. I want to request you to contact me for that. I believe that i am the best candidate as well as i am capable enough to teach my own language. Moreover, I have an experience of more than 5 years in teaching a language to youngsters.
Furthermore, I am able to provide some more materials to the family, which is not only beneficial for their children's knowledge but also crucial for others like parents, grandparents, etc. I am living in Canada right now, but i can manage online classes and also be available for them at any time whenever they need me.
I personally want this job as i want to gain my skills and achieve higher position such as, manager or senior teacher. I need this job to obtain a large amount of money as well as in order to know more about other country and i am willing to proudly teach my own language to others and make them aware about my culture.
Thank you for your time and patience. Let me know if you need anything from me.
Kind regards,
Yesha Sharma.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt. You explained your suitability by mentioning your five years of experience, suggested additional help by offering online classes, and provided reasons for wanting the job, such as professional development and cultural exchange. However, the tone is slightly inconsistent; for example, you address the couple as 'Sir or Madam' despite the prompt stating they are a 'couple' you have seen an advertisement from, which suggests a more personal or semi-formal tone would be appropriate. Additionally, some ideas, such as the desire to 'obtain a large amount of money,' are expressed in a way that may sound slightly unprofessional for a job application letter.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each focusing on a specific requirement of the task. You use cohesive devices such as 'Moreover,' 'Furthermore,' and 'In addition' to link your ideas. However, the flow is occasionally interrupted by minor mechanical errors in referencing, such as the use of 'our language' when you have not yet specified which language you are referring to. The transition between the introduction and the body paragraphs is generally smooth, and the letter follows a standard, recognizable structure for a formal request.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using phrases like 'best candidate' and 'proudly teach.' However, there are some instances of slightly unnatural word choices, such as 'gain my skills' (better: 'enhance my skills') and 'obtain a large amount of money' (better: 'earn a competitive salary'). While your meaning is always clear, the vocabulary remains somewhat basic and lacks the more sophisticated collocations that would elevate the response to a higher band. Spelling is generally accurate throughout the text.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several recurring grammatical errors, most notably the failure to capitalize the personal pronoun 'i' throughout the letter. You also have some minor issues with article usage and prepositional phrases, such as 'in order to know more about other country' (should be 'another country'). While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Your control over basic sentence construction is good, but more variety in complex structures would be beneficial.
