Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt: explaining your suitability, offering additional help, and stating your reasons for wanting the job. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For example, while you mention your degrees, you could have elaborated more on your teaching experience or pedagogical approach to make your application more compelling. The structure is clear, and the purpose of the letter is immediately apparent to the reader. To improve, ensure that each point is expanded with a bit more detail to fully satisfy the requirements of a formal application.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized, with each paragraph focusing on a specific requirement of the task. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'In addition', and 'Furthermore' to link your ideas. However, the paragraphing is a bit fragmented, and some transitions feel slightly mechanical. The use of 'Dear Sir' is acceptable, but since the prompt mentions a 'couple', 'Dear Mr. and Mrs. [Name]' or 'Dear Sir/Madam' would be more precise. The flow of information is generally smooth, but improving the variety of linking words would help the text feel more natural and cohesive.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'qualifications', 'pursued', and 'contribute'. There are some minor issues with word choice and capitalization, such as 'off spring' (should be one word: 'offspring') and the unnecessary capitalization of 'Qualifications' and 'Main'. Additionally, 'wards' is a slightly formal or legalistic term that sounds a bit unnatural in this context; 'children' or 'kids' would be more appropriate. While your vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, incorporating more precise collocations would elevate your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'Bachelors's Degree' (should be 'Bachelor's degree'), 'I persued' (spelling error: 'pursued'), and 'I would look forward for' (should be 'I look forward to'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with spacing around commas and periods. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and standardizing your punctuation will significantly improve the accuracy of your writing.
