Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The letter addresses all three bullet points: suitability, additional help, and reasons for wanting the job. However, the development is somewhat basic. For instance, the explanation of suitability is repetitive, and the mention of 'holistic development' is a good idea that lacks specific detail. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter, though the opening 'Dear sir' is generic; since the prompt mentions a 'couple', 'Dear Mr. and Mrs. [Name]' or 'Dear Sir or Madam' would have been more accurate. The ideas are relevant but could be expanded with more specific examples of teaching experience or childcare skills to achieve a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. There is a logical progression from the introduction to the body paragraphs and the conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore', 'On top of that', and 'Overall' are used to link ideas, although some transitions feel slightly mechanical. The referencing is generally clear, though the flow between sentences could be improved by using more varied linking structures rather than relying on simple sentence starters. Overall, the message is easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to communicate their intentions clearly. There are some attempts at higher-level vocabulary, such as 'holistic development' and 'passionate', which are used correctly. However, there is some repetition of basic words like 'child' and 'job'. Some phrasing is slightly unnatural, such as 'I am already graduated from well known university', which should be 'I have graduated from a well-known university'. Expanding the range of collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing would improve the score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The writing contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as '2 years old children' (should be 'two-year-old children'), 'i' (should be capitalized 'I'), and 'Your faithfully' (should be 'Yours faithfully'). Additionally, there are minor issues with article usage and verb tense consistency. The errors do not impede communication, but they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and consistent punctuation would be beneficial.
