Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing this letter to express my interest in teaching Punjabi language to your children as advertised in Global News, Halifax.

As I am born and brought up in Punjab; thus, Punjabi is my mother language and I am proficient in it. Furthermore, I have done an MA in Punjabi from Kamla Nehru College, Phagwara. I also have 3 years of teaching experience in local school so I believe that I am a perfect match for this position.

As I am available to teach in the evening during weekdays so I can come to your home to provide two hours class. It will also allow you not to worry about dropping them to a center as I can provide home tutor service and can take care of them while you and your wife are away for work. I can arrange some play activities which will also help them to learn some basic skills along with the language.

I am keen to do this job as it will not only help me to earn money for my daily expenses but I can able to stay connected with my mother language. The experience I will gain by teaching them, can even be beneficial for my future goal to get a reputed job in an Australian coaching center.

I have attached my detailed resume for your kind perusal. Kindly consider my profile for this position.

Thanks in advance for your consideration.

Yours sincerely,

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5

You have successfully addressed all three bullet points in the prompt. You clearly explained your suitability through your educational background and teaching experience, offered additional help with childcare and activities, and provided clear personal reasons for wanting the position. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter of application. To reach a higher band, ensure that the opening salutation matches the prompt's instructions; you used 'Dear Sir/Madam' when the prompt specifically asked you to address the couple (e.g., 'Dear Mr. and Mrs. Smith'). Overall, the ideas are well-developed and the purpose of the letter is clear throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 8.0

The letter is logically organized with a clear progression of ideas. Each paragraph focuses on a specific aspect of the task, which makes the information easy to follow. You use cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore', 'As I am', and 'It will also allow' to link your sentences effectively. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the introduction, body, and conclusion. The flow is smooth, and the relationship between ideas is consistently clear. No significant issues were noted in the management of cohesion.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'proficient', 'perusal', and 'reputed'. There are some minor inaccuracies, such as 'I can able to stay connected', which should be 'I will be able to stay connected'. Additionally, 'two hours class' should be 'a two-hour class'. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, incorporating a slightly wider range of more sophisticated collocations or idiomatic expressions would help elevate the score further. The spelling is accurate throughout.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. There are some grammatical slips, such as 'As I am born and brought up' (should be 'As I was born and brought up') and 'I can able to' (should be 'I will be able to'). Despite these occasional errors, your meaning is never in doubt, and the majority of your sentences are error-free. You show good control over punctuation and sentence construction, which allows for a comfortable reading experience.
