Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have successfully addressed all three bullet points in the prompt. You clearly explained your suitability by highlighting your educational background and teaching experience, offered additional help such as babysitting and cooking, and provided clear reasons for wanting the job, specifically mentioning your need to support your tuition fees. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter, and the purpose is clear throughout. To reach a higher band, ensure that you expand slightly more on how your specific teaching style or methods would benefit their children, as this would add more depth to your suitability.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a closing. Each paragraph focuses on a specific aspect of the prompt, which helps the reader follow your ideas easily. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'I also know' and 'In addition', though the flow could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words to connect your sentences more fluidly. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different requirements of the task, which contributes to the overall clarity of your message.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'mother tongue', 'community college', and 'in-person'. However, there are some minor spelling errors, such as 'genreous' (generous), 'tution' (tuition), and 'tecahing' (teaching). While these do not impede communication, they prevent the response from reaching a higher band. To improve, try to incorporate more precise collocations or slightly more sophisticated vocabulary related to education and childcare to demonstrate a broader lexical range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. There are some grammatical slips, such as 'My apartment in very close' (is very close) and 'I look forward to hear' (hearing). Additionally, there is a minor punctuation error in the email address and a missing article in 'for family' (for the family). Despite these errors, your meaning is always clear, and the grammar does not hinder the reader's understanding. Focusing on proofreading for small subject-verb agreement and preposition errors will help you achieve a higher score.
