Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The letter covers all three bullet points required by the prompt: suitability, additional help, and reasons for applying. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter, although the opening salutation 'Dear sir' is generic rather than addressing the specific couple mentioned. The ideas are relevant, but the development is somewhat limited. For instance, the explanation of why you want the job is a bit simplistic, focusing primarily on financial needs. To achieve a higher band, you should expand on how your teaching philosophy or passion for cultural exchange aligns with the family's needs, providing more depth to your arguments.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices such as 'In addition', 'Therefore', and 'Not only... but', which assist in linking sentences. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical or forced. The referencing is generally clear, though the flow between the second and third paragraphs could be smoother. The closing is incomplete ('Yours faithf'), which affects the overall structure of the letter. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring a complete, formal sign-off would enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing you to communicate your points clearly. You use some relevant terms like 'language tutor', 'certification', and 'experience'. However, there are several spelling errors, such as 'fot' (for), 'advertise' (advertisement), 'chlidren' (children), 'littreture' (literature), and 'insititue' (institute). These errors are noticeable but do not prevent the reader from understanding your message. To reach a higher band, you should aim for more precise word choices and ensure accurate spelling of common terms. Expanding your range to include more sophisticated collocations would also be beneficial.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as 'I am writing this letter regarding...' and 'I would appreciate if you provide me this job...'. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('this job is suit my abilities') and missing articles ('I have gain advance littreture certification'). Some sentences are slightly awkward, such as 'I have found an advertise that you are finding language tutor your chlidren'. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to impact the overall fluency and accuracy of the text.
