Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The letter covers all three bullet points: suitability, additional help, and reasons for applying. However, the response is significantly under the 150-word minimum, which limits the development of ideas. The points are addressed in a very brief, superficial manner. For example, the explanation of suitability is limited to a single sentence about past experience, and the reasons for wanting the job are stated very bluntly ('I need a job and money'). To achieve a higher band, you must expand on your ideas with more detail and professional tone to meet the length requirement and provide a more comprehensive response.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The letter is organised into short paragraphs, which is appropriate for the task. However, the progression of ideas is quite mechanical. There is a lack of cohesive devices to link sentences and ideas smoothly. For instance, the transition between your experience and your offer to cook is abrupt. The use of basic conjunctions like 'and' and 'so' is repetitive, and the overall flow feels disjointed. To improve, you should use a wider range of linking words (e.g., 'furthermore', 'consequently', 'in addition to') to create a more natural and logical flow between your points.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is basic and repetitive, which limits your ability to convey a professional tone. You use simple phrases like 'I have lot of knowledge' and 'I am good cook'. There are also errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'I am interesting to do this job' (should be 'interested') and 'I should cooking' (should be 'I could cook'). The range is sufficient for basic communication but lacks the precision and variety expected for higher bands. Expanding your vocabulary to include more professional and descriptive terms would significantly enhance the quality of your writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'I have seen advertisement' (missing article), 'I had worked... five year ago' (incorrect tense usage), and 'I am living near your home so it is easy for me' (run-on sentence structure). The sentence structures are mostly simple, with limited attempts at complex sentences. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly in the closing. To improve, focus on mastering basic verb tenses, article usage, and sentence construction. Incorporating more complex sentence structures, such as relative clauses or conditional sentences, would also help demonstrate a wider grammatical range.
