Student answer (Band 5.5)
Dear sir or mam,
I am writing this letter in regards to an advertisement that I have seen recently , It was about to teach a language to your kids for the time period of a year. As my profile, I have completed my MA's in English , and I have also a experiance of 3 years in a renowned school in India. I would definitely assist your children to learn a language in easy way.
Not only this, I would try to give you a fees discount, so you guys do not feel the burden of finance. I will not only teach the language but also help to learn how to become a personality in our society.
Moreover, I am also running out of pocket these days, and I also need this job to pay my bills and expenses. Regardless of this, I would have also a chance to get the exposer of a foreign country.
Yours sincerely,
Manjot.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt: your suitability, additional help, and reasons for wanting the job. However, the tone is inconsistent and occasionally inappropriate for a formal letter. For instance, mentioning that you are 'running out of pocket' and need the job to 'pay my bills' is unprofessional and does not align with the expectations of a job application. While the ideas are relevant, they lack the professional development required for a higher band. To improve, focus on highlighting your professional value rather than your personal financial situation, and ensure the tone remains formal throughout.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your points. You use basic cohesive devices like 'Not only this', 'Moreover', and 'Regardless of this' to link your ideas. However, the transitions feel somewhat mechanical and repetitive. The opening salutation 'Dear sir or mam' is also non-standard; 'Dear Sir or Madam' would be the correct formal convention. While the progression of ideas is logical, the overall flow could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that the relationship between sentences is more natural and less formulaic.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it is quite limited and contains several errors in word choice and collocation. Phrases like 'running out of pocket' and 'get the exposer' are incorrect or unnatural. You also use 'MA's' incorrectly; it should be 'an MA'. While you attempt to use some descriptive language, the lack of precision and the presence of spelling errors (e.g., 'experiance') limit your score. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise professional terminology and ensure you are using common collocations correctly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include 'I have also a experiance' (incorrect word order), 'I would definitely assist your children to learn a language in easy way' (missing article), and 'I would have also a chance' (awkward phrasing). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with spaces placed before commas. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to lower the overall accuracy score. Focusing on basic subject-verb agreement and article usage will significantly improve your writing.
