Dear .................. ,
Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Matthew,
I hope you are doing well. I have seen your advertisement on the local website for learning Hindi language for your children. I would like to provide my assistance because I'm a native Hindi speaker and very fluent in this language.
The reason for looking to work is that I'm a recent graduate from the queen's university and I don't have any job. I am flexible with hours and available throughout the week and even on weekends. In addition, I could even come at your location as you won't have to worry about transportation for your children as well as their safety.
I can provide computer based online AI version software which would enhance the overall fluency. There are four criteria of the language which are listening, speaking, reading and writing.
I will try to increase the level of understanding for all four aspects and give regular feedback which would help them to be more fluent.
please let me know if you have any further questions or doubts, I have given my contact number. We can discuss the hourly charge on the phone. Thank you for your time.
Best wishes,
Utsav

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The letter addresses all three bullet points in the prompt. You clearly explain your suitability as a native speaker, offer additional help regarding transportation and AI-based software, and provide a reason for wanting the job. The tone is appropriate for a semi-formal letter to a family. However, the development of ideas is somewhat basic. For instance, the mention of 'computer based online AI version software' is a bit vague and could have been explained more clearly in terms of how it benefits the children. Overall, the task is fully addressed, but the depth of the response could be improved to reach a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter follows a logical progression, moving from the introduction to your qualifications, additional services, and finally the closing. Paragraphing is used, though the structure is slightly fragmented. You use some cohesive devices like 'In addition' and 'However', but the flow between sentences could be smoother. Some transitions feel a bit mechanical, such as the sudden shift to discussing the four criteria of language learning. To improve, ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence and that ideas are linked more naturally to create a more cohesive narrative.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, such as 'native speaker', 'flexible', and 'fluency'. There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'come at your location' (should be 'come to your location') and 'computer based online AI version software', which is slightly redundant and awkward. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your message clearly, it lacks the precision and variety of less common lexical items that would be expected at a higher band level. Focusing on more natural collocations will help improve your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'I don't have any job' (should be 'I do not have a job') and 'I have seen your advertisement on the local website for learning Hindi language' (missing 'the' before 'Hindi'). Additionally, 'please let me know' should be capitalized as it starts a new sentence. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Increasing your control over articles and sentence structure will lead to more accurate writing.
