Student answer (Band 5.5)
Dear John,
I have come across your advertisement posted on job work portal. I am very excited and eager to teach your children my mothertounge.
Learning a skill of a language is pragmatic and useful in this state-of-the-art world. As per your post, I think I would be the suitable trainer to train your children's as I my self is a native speaker and a professor in local university for Gujarati.
Beside the online classes I could provide free digital material with some reference books of literature which eventually ease the understanding of new language. As an part time professor I want some side income to cop with my daily expenses and this is the best and only option for myself I hope you consider my request of interest on the portal.
Looking forward to meet you and your kids virtually.
Yours faithfully

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The letter addresses all three bullet points: suitability, additional help, and reasons for applying. However, the response is under the 150-word minimum, which negatively impacts the development of ideas. The explanation of suitability is brief, and the reasons for wanting the job are somewhat limited. To improve, you should expand on your teaching experience and provide more detail regarding how you can assist the family beyond just providing digital materials. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter, though the length constraint prevents a fully developed response.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your points. You use some cohesive devices like 'As per your post' and 'Beside the online classes', though the transitions can feel slightly mechanical. The progression of ideas is clear, but the brevity of the paragraphs limits the flow. To reach a higher band, ensure that your sentences are linked more naturally and that you use a wider variety of cohesive devices to connect your ideas within and between paragraphs.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, such as 'pragmatic', 'state-of-the-art', and 'native speaker'. However, there are several errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'mothertounge' (mother tongue), 'job work portal' (job portal), and 'cop with' (cope with). These errors do not prevent understanding, but they do limit the precision of your writing. To improve, focus on correct collocations and proofreading for spelling errors to ensure your vocabulary is used accurately.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Examples include 'I my self is a native speaker' (I myself am), 'As an part time professor' (As a part-time professor), and 'Looking forward to meet you' (Looking forward to meeting you). While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to affect the overall quality of the writing. Increasing your focus on subject-verb agreement and correct preposition usage will help improve your score.
