Dear Mr. and Mrs. Shegal,

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to express my interest in the job opportunity to teach your two children a language for a year that you recently advertised.

I believe I am a suitable candidate for this position. Since Punjabi is my mother tongue, I am completely fluent in writing and speaking Punjabi. Moreover, I worked as a primary school teacher in India, which made me able to teach children with more effective way, so that they can be feel comfortable with me.

Apart from teaching language, I can help your children in assisting their academic work, organize different learning activities for them to engage them. Moreover, I am also willing to help your family in some household chores such as grocery shopping, making simple meals etc.

I am particularly interested in this opportunity because I want to continue my teaching profession also in Australia. Furthermore, living with in Australian family environment would help me enhance my knowledge about Australian culture.

Thank you for considering my application. I would greatly appreciate to discuss this opportunity further at your convenience.

Yours faithfully,

Harmeet Kaur

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5

You have successfully addressed all three bullet points in the prompt. You clearly explained your suitability by highlighting your mother tongue and teaching experience, offered additional help with academic work and household chores, and provided logical reasons for wanting the job, such as professional development and cultural immersion. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter, and the purpose is clear throughout. To reach a higher band, you could expand slightly on the 'learning activities' mentioned to show more specific pedagogical insight, but overall, the response is well-developed and fully satisfies the task requirements.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs for each requirement, and a polite closing. You use cohesive devices such as 'Moreover,' 'Apart from,' and 'Furthermore' to link your ideas effectively. The paragraphing is appropriate, and the progression of ideas is easy to follow. While the flow is generally smooth, some transitions feel slightly mechanical. To improve, you could vary your linking words further to ensure the text reads more naturally, but the current structure is clear and serves the purpose of the letter well.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to communicate your ideas clearly. Phrases like 'job opportunity,' 'mother tongue,' and 'household chores' are used correctly. There are some minor awkward phrasings, such as 'made me able to teach children with more effective way' and 'can be feel comfortable,' which slightly impact the precision of your expression. However, the vocabulary is generally appropriate for the context of a job application. To improve, focus on more natural collocations and avoid repetitive sentence structures when describing your skills.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are several grammatical slips, such as 'made me able to teach children with more effective way' (should be 'in a more effective way') and 'can be feel comfortable' (should be 'feel comfortable'). Additionally, 'living with in Australian family' contains a preposition error. Despite these errors, they do not impede communication. To achieve a higher score, focus on refining your use of articles and prepositions, and ensure that your complex sentence constructions are grammatically accurate.
