You have seen an advertisement from a couple, who live in Australia, for someone to teach their two children your language for a year. Write a letter to the couple. In your letter

• explain why you think you would be suitable for the job
• say what else you could do for the family
• give your reasons for wanting the job

Dear Mr and Mrs Smith,

I am writing to apply for the language tutor role that you advertised in the Daily Times for your two children.

I believe I am suitable for this position because I am a native speaker who has been living in Australia for the past ten years. During this time, I have taught and cared for children of different ages. I also make learning enjoyable, as I believe children understand concepts more easily when lessons are linked to activities they enjoy. Therefore, I would use games and other fun activities to help your children learn the language effectively.

Apart from teaching your children, I could also assist with looking after them on days when you require a nanny. This would allow you to manage your busy schedules while knowing that your children are in safe and reliable hands. I would also be happy to help them with their homework and organise simple activities for them.

My main reason for wanting this job is my passion for teaching and caring for children. I would also enjoy helping your family preserve our language and culture so that it does not fade with time. In addition, this position would provide me with a valuable source of income while allowing me to do something I genuinely enjoy.
