Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sir/Madam
I am writing this letter to express my interest in the opportunity to teaching your two children my native language for a year. I would love to share my experience. As I am a teacher in school, I could be the best fit for this position.
First of all, I am not a person who is only treat children as a student. I always try to connect them and help them to solve their other problems too. As a native speaker, I can also introduce your children to my culture, food and festivals. while teaching them, I can also sharp my skills and gain more knowledge.
In addition, I will help them to learn some ethics and financial knowledge, as I have a masters in specific subject. I would help them to do home work. when you are not home, I will take care of them and make a meal for them. I enjoy spending time with children and can easily adapt the environment of family.
The main reason I would like this job is that it offers a wonderful opportunity to experience a new culture. I am very glad to grab this job. I am very confident that living with your family, We both are getting a new experience from all. We will also make a good long tern healthy relationship.
Thank you for considering my application. I look forward hearing from you.
Yours Faithfully
Jack

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt: explaining your suitability, offering additional help, and stating your reasons for wanting the job. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter, although the opening salutation 'Dear Sir/Madam' is slightly inconsistent with the prompt's instruction to address a 'couple' (a more appropriate opening would have been 'Dear Mr and Mrs [Name]' or 'Dear [Name] and [Name]'). The ideas are relevant and clearly presented, though some points, such as 'financial knowledge', could have been expanded upon to better demonstrate your suitability for the role.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each focusing on a specific aspect of the task. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'First of all', 'In addition', and 'The main reason', which help guide the reader through your points. However, the flow between sentences is occasionally slightly mechanical. Additionally, the referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the sentence 'We both are getting a new experience from all', which lacks a clear antecedent. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between ideas would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'native speaker', 'adapt', and 'opportunity'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'sharp my skills' (should be 'sharpen'), 'make a meal' (should be 'prepare meals'), and 'grab this job' (which is too informal for this context). While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precise vocabulary usage and a better understanding of formal register.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include 'I am not a person who is only treat children' (should be 'who only treats'), 'I could be the best fit' (should be 'a good fit'), and 'I look forward hearing from you' (should be 'I look forward to hearing from you'). Subject-verb agreement and preposition usage are inconsistent. While your meaning remains clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band score. Focusing on proofreading for basic tense and agreement errors would be beneficial.
