Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers all three bullet points required by the prompt. You explain your suitability by mentioning your background in early childhood education, suggest additional help by offering to teach manners and cultural values, and provide reasons for wanting the job, such as professional development. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited and the tone is occasionally informal (e.g., 'you guys'). To reach a higher band, ensure that your reasons for wanting the job are more clearly linked to the specific context of the family's needs rather than just your own resume building. The letter structure is appropriate for a formal request.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your points. You use some cohesive devices such as 'First of all', 'Additionally', and 'This would help'. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the transition between the introduction and the body paragraphs is slightly abrupt. The referencing is generally clear, though some sentences are fragmented, which impacts the overall flow. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that connects smoothly to the next.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your message clearly. You use relevant terms like 'early child educator', 'advertisement', and 'professional development' (implied). However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'my overview' instead of 'my background' and 'grow myself in this field more better', which is grammatically awkward and lexically imprecise. To improve, focus on using more natural collocations and avoiding repetitive or overly simplistic phrasing. Expanding your range of descriptive adjectives would also enhance the quality of your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent errors throughout the text. Examples include 'I ma been living' (tense error), 'jobs which is advertised' (subject-verb agreement), and 'three child' (pluralization error). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to distract the reader. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement, correct verb tenses, and ensuring that your complex sentences are constructed accurately without missing auxiliary verbs or articles.
