Student answer (Band 5.5)
Dear Sir/Mam
I hope you are doing well? I am Writing a letter because i saw your advertisement on internet that you are looking for a person who can teach language to your children for a whole year. I think this is the better opportunity for me because i have two year experience of teaching language not only teenagers but also younger. I also love children a lot. As well as i am living behind your apartment so it gonna not be difficult for me to come and teach them.
Although you hire me only for teaching but i will take care of them as well i'll play with them. As i mentioned earlier i love children. I will manage also their toys after playing on the right place so that it gonna not be difficult for you to clean again and again.
I am a student and i have to pay for my college fees. So i really need for it so that i can not only pay for college fees but also can manage my other expenses.
I will wait for your response
Your faithfully,
Amandeep Kaur

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The candidate addresses all parts of the task prompt adequately. First, the writer explains their suitability by mentioning 'two year experience of teaching language' and a love for children. Second, additional help is proposed by stating 'i will take care of them as well i'll play with them' and tidying up toys. Third, reasons for wanting the job are clearly given, noting that 'i am a student and i have to pay for my college fees.' The tone is generally appropriate for a letter to a couple, although the salutation 'Dear Sir/Mam' is slightly contradictory since the prompt specifies writing to a couple. The ideas are relevant and cover all bullet points, aligning well with the Band 6 descriptor.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The response has a coherent overall arrangement and follows a logical structure corresponding to the prompt requirements. Paragraphing is attempted, with the body paragraphs separated into suitability, extra help, and reasons. However, cohesive devices are sometimes mechanical or faulty. For instance, transitional phrases like 'Although you hire me only for teaching' are used inaccurately to mean 'Even though you hired me...', and referencing is occasionally unclear ('so it gonna not be difficult'). Paragraph breaks are also slightly erratic, particularly with the very short middle paragraphs. Progression is present, but overall cohesion lacks smooth management.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, but range and precision are limited. The student relies on basic terms such as 'good opportunity', 'love children', and 'other expenses'. There are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors, such as 'Writing' with a capital W mid-sentence, 'two year experience' (missing plural 'years'), and colloquial phrasings like 'living behind your apartment' (likely meaning nearby). Less common lexical items are rarely attempted, and spelling/word formation issues ('Mam' instead of Madam or names) restrict the score to a Band 5.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The writer uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as conditional and subordinate clauses ('I think this is the better opportunity for me because i have...'). However, there are frequent grammatical errors in tense consistency, prepositions, articles, and informal contractions ('gonna'). Examples of errors include 'i saw your advertisement on internet', 'two year experience', and 'need for it'. Punctuation is also weak, with missing apostrophes ('i am', 'i'll', 'it gonna') and lower-case 'i' used throughout. While communication is not heavily impeded, the density of errors keeps the grammar score at Band 5.
