Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The candidate addresses all three bullet points required in the prompt: explaining suitability for the teaching job, mentioning additional help such as housework and gardening, and giving reasons for wanting the position. The tone is appropriate for a semi-formal letter to a couple. However, the response has a few noticeable issues. Firstly, the student makes a minor misinterpretation by writing 'teaching my language to your kids over one year of duration... to earn for my expenses' instead of fully developing the long-term living arrangement context, although the intent is clear. More importantly, the response fails to meet the minimum length requirement, containing only 139 words compared to the required 150 words. This under-length shortfall directly impacts Task Achievement, resulting in a penalty. Therefore, the task is only partially satisfied in terms of thorough development.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The letter is divided into short paragraphs, attempting to group ideas logically, such as separating teaching background from household assistance and personal traits. However, the coherence is compromised by the abrupt ending of the third paragraph ('I can also help to children for com'), which cuts off mid-sentence and disrupts the flow of information. Cohesive devices are basic, with transitions like 'Additionally', 'Therefore', 'Not only... but also', and 'Moreover'. Paragraphing is visibly disjointed, with several single-sentence paragraphs ('Moreover I am well oragnized...') that prevent the text from achieving a smooth, well-structured progression. Overall arrangement is evident, but cohesion is faulty and mechanical in places, aligning with Band 5.5 to 6.0 descriptors.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The student displays an adequate vocabulary range to communicate basic concepts related to the job application. Examples like 'advertisement', 'opportunity', 'passionate', and 'patient' are used correctly. However, there are notable word choice errors and unnatural collocations, such as 'working in the teaching field from couples of years' (instead of 'for a couple of years'), 'experties' (spelling error for 'expertise'), 'housechores' (should be 'housework' or 'household chores'), 'clealiness' (spelling error for 'cleanliness'), and 'oragnized' (spelling error for 'organized'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they restrict the lexical score because of frequent inaccuracies in spelling and word choice.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The candidate attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, including inverted structures like 'Not only tutoring is my passion but also I am fond of...'. However, grammatical accuracy is weak. There are preposition errors ('teaching... from couples of years', 'help to children'), punctuation omissions (lack of commas after introductory phrases like 'Moreover'), and spelling issues combined with the incomplete final sentence ('I can also help to children for com'). The high frequency of minor errors and the incomplete sentence structure mean that error-free sentences are relatively scarce, putting this performance firmly in the Band 5 category.
