I always wanted to explore more about Australian culture and I personally believe this job would helps me to gain more knowlegde about it and gives me a sense of satisfaction. Also, it would gives me an opportunity to gain international work experience which will help me in my professional development. Therfore, it will be a valueable opportunity for both of us.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The candidate has successfully addressed all three bullet points of the prompt. First, the writer explains suitability for the job by highlighting personal qualities like patience and professional experience with children. Second, additional duties are suggested, such as taking children for recreational activities, helping them socialise, and teaching them to make breakfast. Third, clear reasons for wanting the job are provided, including a desire to explore Australian culture and gain international work experience. The letter adopts an appropriate semi-formal tone and clearly achieves its communicative purpose. Ideas are well developed and relevant throughout, satisfying the criteria for Band 7.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The letter demonstrates a clear logical organization with a natural progression from introduction to body paragraphs and a polite sign-off. Paragraphing is used appropriately, with each body paragraph dedicated to a distinct aspect of the prompt (suitability, additional help, and reasons for applying). Cohesive devices such as 'Not only', 'In addition to this', 'Moreover', and 'Therefore' are employed to connect ideas, though some referencing is slightly awkward, such as 'socialise theirselves' instead of 'socialise'. Overall, the logical structure and flow are clear throughout, placing this response firmly in the Band 7 range.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary used is generally adequate and appropriate for the task, with attempts to use less common items and collocations such as 'professional development', 'recreational activities', and 'sense of satisfaction'. However, there are some noticeable lexical errors and awkward collocations, such as 'language subject' instead of 'language', 'knowlegde' (spelling error), and 'socialise theirselves' (non-standard reflexive pronoun). Despite these occasional inaccuracies and spelling slips, the vocabulary has sufficient range and flexibility to convey meaning clearly, matching the Band 6 descriptor.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The writer demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing structures like conditional and participial clauses effectively. However, there are several grammatical inaccuracies throughout the text. For instance, the inverted structure 'Not only, I have' contains an unnecessary comma and incorrect verb placement ('Not only do I have' or 'Not only I have' is flawed). Furthermore, modal and tense agreement errors occur, such as 'would helps me' and 'would gives me'. While these errors are noticeable, they do not impede overall communication, placing the grammatical performance at Band 6.
