Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

The candidate successfully covers all the requirements of the prompt. The letter is addressed appropriately, although the salutation uses 'Dear Sir' instead of naming the couple, which is acceptable in general correspondence. The explanation of suitability is well-developed with 20 years of tutoring experience and relevant degrees from Punjab University. Furthermore, the response includes what else the candidate could do by mentioning music teaching and playing instruments. Finally, the reasons for wanting the job are clearly stated, focusing on reuniting with family settled in Australia and building a bright future. The tone is polite and suitable for a job application letter. All bullet points are thoroughly addressed and extended with relevant supporting details.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.5

The letter exhibits a clear overall progression and logical organisation. The response is divided into suitable paragraphs, each focusing on a distinct theme: introduction and suitability, additional skills, and personal motivations. Cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'Furthermore', and 'Additionally' are used to link ideas, although there is a slight mechanical feel to their placement at times. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different facets of the prompt. Referencing is generally clear, though minor improvements in linking sentences would enhance the flow further.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

The candidate demonstrates an adequate to good range of vocabulary appropriate for a job application. Phrases such as 'relevant skills and qualifications', 'scientific proven', and 'valid job opportunity' show an attempt to use less common lexical items. However, there are some spelling and word-choice errors, such as 'advertisment' instead of 'advertisement', 'poccess' instead of 'possess', and 'aquired' instead of 'acquired'. Additionally, 'amristar' lacks a capital letter. Despite these errors, the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the intended message clearly without impeding communication.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

The candidate uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, including relative clauses and conditional-like statements. There are several grammatical errors present, such as 'Being coming from an musical family' (incorrect participle phrase) and 'Since my wife and children is settled' (subject-verb agreement error with plural subject and singular verb). Punctuation errors also occur, such as unnecessary spaces before commas, as seen in 'Moreover ,'. While these errors persist, the majority of sentences are understandable, and the grammar does not prevent the reader from following the narrative.
