You do NOT need to write any addresses.
Begin your letter as follows:
Dear .................. ,
Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sir and Madam,
I am writting to you to indicate my interest in the position of a language tutor for your children which was advertised in the daily magazine. Having acquired a 3 years degree in igbo language, and with a field experience of teaching toddlers for over 6 months in the language, I believe I will be a better candidate for this job.
Apart from teaching the language, I am a very hardworking and enthusiatic person that loves children. I will ensure they are meaningfully and actively engaged with educational activity, assist them in doing their school works when required of me, and also help in cleaning the house and in making meals when need be.
Am currently awaiting my service year, but at the mean time, I need this Job to build up my cv, have more enticing experience and most importantly, make some income to meet my daily needs and save up for my service year.
I am enthusiatic about this work and I look forward to a formal interview where I will discuss more about the skills I will bring into your home.
Thank you
Yours Sincerely,
Anagah Mercy.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.5
The response successfully covers all the required bullet points of the prompt. First, the writer explains her suitability by mentioning her three-year degree in Igbo and six months of practical teaching experience with toddlers. Second, she details what else she can do for the family, such as helping with household chores, preparing meals, and assisting with schoolwork. Third, she outlines her reasons for wanting the job, which include building her CV, gaining experience, and earning income before her service year. The tone is appropriately formal for a job application letter. The ideas are relevant, fully developed, and directly respond to the prompt requirements, demonstrating a strong performance for this criterion.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The letter is logically organized into distinct paragraphs, each serving a specific purpose from introduction to conclusion. The progression of ideas is clear and follows a natural trajectory. Cohesive devices are used adequately and appropriately, such as 'Apart from teaching', 'and also', and 'most importantly'. Paragraphing is handled sufficiently, separating the distinct points of suitability, additional tasks, and reasons for applying. Although referencing is mostly clear, a minor slip occurs in the opening salutation ('Dear Sir and Madam' instead of addressing the specific couple mentioned in the prompt), but this does not disrupt the overall flow or coherence of the text.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The writer demonstrates an adequate to good range of vocabulary appropriate for a job application letter. Phrases such as 'indicate my interest', 'meaningfully and actively engaged', and 'formal interview' are used effectively. However, there are a few lexical and spelling inaccuracies, such as 'writting' instead of writing, 'enthusiastic' misspelled as 'enthusiastic' (initially written as 'enthusiatic'), and 'at the mean time' instead of 'in the meantime'. Despite these occasional slips, the vocabulary used is sufficient to convey the message clearly and shows an attempt to use less common lexical items related to employment and education.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The response features a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as participial phrases ('Having acquired a 3 years degree...') and conditional clauses ('when required of me'). There are several grammatical errors and punctuation slips, including 'a 3 years degree' (should be 'a 3-year degree'), missing articles, and some awkward preposition use ('in the daily magazine' instead of 'in a magazine' or 'online'). Capitalization and spelling errors also occur, such as 'cv' and 'Job'. However, the majority of sentences are understandable, and the grammatical errors rarely impede communication, allowing the reader to follow the writer's meaning without significant difficulty.
