Student answer (Band 5.5)

Dear sir,

I am writing about the apply of my application to join the job which is related to supervise their offspring and teach my language. I want to join this job for a year because i would live in Austraila for one year to gain my experience and know about their culture. Moreover, i think i am suitable for that job because i am very fluent in my own language and i know number of words which is more necessary to teach their pupis such as vocabulary, grammar and pronuctions and articles which helps their children to learn my language easily. In addition to it, i would not only teach their children but also doing other houshold work along with teaching such as laundry, making food for their family and cleaning. I would more need to join this job to survive in Austraila.

I hope you would review my profile as soon as so i can help their children and myself. I will wait for your furtehr message.

Yours faithfully,

Gagan

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, satisfying the requirements of covering the job suitability, additional help, and reasons for wanting the position. However, some ideas are more fully developed than others. For instance, the explanation of why you are suitable touches upon language skills, but the development remains somewhat limited and repetitive. The reason for wanting the job is briefly mentioned as wanting to survive in Australia, which is a bit narrow. To move up, you would need to extend and support all your ideas more thoroughly, providing deeper elaboration for each bullet point while maintaining a clear and consistent tone throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with a logical sequence of ideas, moving from the introduction to suitability, additional tasks, reasons, and a closing remark. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical and repetitive, seen in the frequent use of linkers like 'Moreover,' 'In addition to it,' and 'In addition.' Paragraphing is attempted, but the text lacks smooth overall progression between sentences due to dense, run-on structures. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as shifting pronouns between 'their' and 'my'. To achieve a higher level, you need to use cohesive devices more flexibly and ensure that paragraphs are structured with clearer logical flow and precise referencing.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

An adequate range of vocabulary is used for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'supervise their offspring,' 'fluent,' and 'household work.' However, there are noticeable inaccuracies in word choice, collocation, and word formation, such as 'the apply of my application,' 'pupis' instead of pupils, 'pronuctions' instead of pronunciations, and 'making food' instead of preparing meals. While these errors do not severely impede communication, they reflect a limited vocabulary control. To improve, you should focus on accurate word forms, natural collocations, and checking spelling carefully to ensure greater precision and style.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writing displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as the use of relative clauses ('which is related to' and 'which helps their children'). However, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation, particularly with prepositions, articles, and verb patterns, such as 'live in Austraila for one year to gain my experience,' 'number of words which is more necessary,' and 'as soon as so i can.' Some complex sentence attempts contain structural flaws. To reach a higher standard, you need to increase the proportion of error-free sentences, improve control over articles and prepositions, and refine your use of complex grammatical structures.
