Dear .................. ,
Student answer (Band 5.5)
Dear Sir / Madam
I am writing this letter regarding job as an educator to teach langustic skills to your kids as I watched an add on instagram on last friday.
I think that I am perfact for this work because I have done masters in english subject with two year internship in teaching children's from 5 to 14 in ages. Apart from this, I learnt a lot about the games during my study that I believe, can help adoloscents to gain their knowledge fast.
Despite this, if you live with your grandparents, I will be so happy to tyake care them as well, because before masters, I got health care assistant certificate by completing one year online course. So I think that I can help them as well if you want.
I am an international student in Australia, so I need a part time work to pay my collage fees and support my parents in my home country.
Kind Regards
Mandeep

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address all three requested points: you explain your teaching background, offer possible care for the grandparents, and give your financial reasons for applying. The qualifications and experience are relevant, especially your master’s degree and teaching internship. However, the suitability point is only partly developed: the reference to learning games is vague, and it is not clear how these would help the couple’s children learn your language. The offer to help the grandparents is conditional and may not fit the family’s needs, while your reasons for wanting the job focus only on income. Add a specific teaching approach and explain your interest in sharing your language or working with children to make the letter more fully persuasive.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The letter has a clear overall arrangement: you introduce the purpose, explain your teaching suitability, offer additional help, and finish with your reason for applying. Paragraphing supports this progression, and phrases such as “Apart from this” and “Despite this” attempt to connect ideas. However, some links are not quite logical: “Despite this” does not clearly contrast with the previous paragraph, and “if you live with your grandparents” makes the offer feel disconnected from the couple’s advertisement. The opening and closing are also rather abrupt. Use more precise transitions, make the relationship between each idea explicit, and add a suitable sign-off to give the letter a smoother, more complete flow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary for the task, including “internship,” “health care assistant certificate,” and “part time work,” so the reader can understand your main points. However, the range is limited and several spelling or word-choice errors are noticeable, including “langustic skills,” “perfact,” “adoloscents,” and “collage fees.” Some expressions are also unnatural or imprecise: “educator to teach langustic skills” and “gain their knowledge fast” do not clearly describe teaching a language to children. Choose more direct, accurate phrases such as “teach my native language” and “help children learn effectively.” Careful proofreading and more precise collocations would make your message easier to read.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including explanations with “because” and a conditional offer beginning “if you live with your grandparents.” Most of the message remains understandable, but some grammatical errors affect clarity. For example, “I have done masters” needs an article and a more natural verb construction, while “two year internship” requires a plural form. In “I learnt a lot about the games … that I believe, can help,” the clause structure and punctuation are unclear. There are also problems with possessives and sentence punctuation, such as “teaching children's from 5 to 14 in ages.” Practise accurate noun phrases and clause boundaries while retaining your attempts at longer sentences.
