Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address the main purpose of the letter and include points related to suitability, extra help, and motivation. Your three years as an English tutor support your suitability, and offering weekend lessons for free gives a specific example of what else you could do. However, some points are only partly explained: “I can speak fluently in a year” is unclear about who will speak fluently, and the reason that you need a job for daily needs is general rather than focused on why this particular role appeals to you. The letter would be more complete if you explained your teaching approach and gave a personal reason for wanting to live or work with this family. Use a more appropriate greeting for the couple.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a recognisable letter format, and paragraph breaks separate the opening, supporting points, and closing. Sequencing phrases such as “To begin with” and “Secondly” help signal the order of ideas. However, the overall progression is not always clear: the opening repeats the promise to teach English, while the later paragraphs move between experience, children’s understanding, and financial motivation without clear links. Some references, such as “everything I do” and “both,” do not make it clear exactly who or what is meant. Organise the letter around the three requested points, with one focused paragraph for each, and use linking phrases only where they clarify the relationship between ideas.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use vocabulary relevant to the situation, including “tutor,” “advertisement,” “children,” and “fluent,” so the reader can identify the subject of the letter. However, the range is limited and several word choices or forms are inaccurate, which sometimes makes the meaning difficult to follow. For example, “3 years of experienced” and “beneficiary of us both” do not express your intended ideas naturally, while “my language” is confusing because you identify yourself as an English teacher. Spelling errors such as “benificiary” and “promt” also affect accuracy. Build a wider set of natural phrases for describing teaching experience, helping a family, and explaining motivation, and check spelling and word forms carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both short statements and longer sentences joined with “and,” “that,” and “because”-type reasoning, but the range is limited and many sentences contain errors that make the message harder to understand. For example, “I write you this letter” has an incorrect verb pattern, and “I can manage to educate your kids … for a years” has problems with the infinitive construction and singular/plural agreement. The sentence beginning “In my 3 years of experienced were…” is incomplete, and “One of my reason” has a number-agreement error. Practise complete sentence structures, verb forms, articles, and singular/plural agreement. Breaking long, loosely connected sentences into clear statements will also improve control.
