Dear .................. ,
Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Andy & Ana,
I hope you are doing well. I am writing this to apply for a language teacher of your children. I have recently seen your advertisement online and I would like to teach a Hindi language to your kids.
Firstly,I have been living in Australia since 2020. However, I was born and raised in India and Hindi is my mothertoung. I am fluent in listening, reading, writing and speaking of Hindi language. I have taught Hindi language to many youngsters in our town. Thus, I have a five years of experience in teaching my first language.
Secondly, along with teaching language I can cook different maxican dishes as well. While I was studying in the university, I worked in a mexican restaurant. Therefore, if you allow me to teach your children I can also help your family in cooking task and make a meal for all family members.
Currently, I am working part-time and I have certain financial responsibilities. Furthermore, I need a job which helps me to earn more money in my leisure time and fulfill my financial requirements.
I would really appreciate your support and consideration. I look forward to hearing from you.
Yours sincerely,
Krupali Parmar

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address all three points in the task: you explain your suitability through your Hindi fluency and teaching experience, offer to cook for the family, and give financial reasons for wanting the position. The letter is relevant and its purpose is clear. The suitability point is the strongest, with details about being raised in India and teaching young people; the other contributions and your motivation are less fully developed. For example, you could explain how your restaurant experience would help with family meals, and add a more personal reason for wanting to teach the children or live and work with the family. This would make the ideas more fully supported while retaining the clear application-letter focus already present.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a clear overall arrangement: an opening application, a paragraph on your qualifications, one on additional help, and a final paragraph explaining your motivation. Sequencing words such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “Furthermore” make the progression easy to follow, and the closing is appropriate. However, the repeated numbered transitions make the organisation somewhat mechanical, and “However” does not express a clear contrast between living in Australia and being born in India. The link between your part-time work and wanting this particular job could also be clearer. Use more natural transitions and connect each paragraph’s details directly to the purpose of the letter to make the progression smoother.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough vocabulary to communicate the main points, including relevant terms such as “fluent,” “experience,” “financial responsibilities,” and “consideration.” However, the range is somewhat limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which keeps the expression from being consistently natural. For instance, “apply for a language teacher” should be “apply for the language-teaching position,” and “cooking task” is better expressed as “cooking” or “meal preparation.” There are also spelling errors in “mothertoung” and “maxican,” and “Hindi language” is repeated where “Hindi” would be more natural. Focus on accurate collocations, spelling, and varied but appropriate phrasing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and more complex sentence forms, and most of the message remains clear. The present perfect in “I have been living in Australia since 2020” and the conditional “if you allow me … I can also help” show some range. Some grammatical errors remain, including “I am writing this to apply for a language teacher,” “I am fluent in … speaking of Hindi language,” and “I have a five years of experience.” These involve sentence construction, prepositions, and article or number agreement. Punctuation also needs attention: there should be a space after the comma in “Firstly,I,” and the opening salutation would be more conventionally punctuated. Proofread these patterns and aim for more consistently accurate complex sentences.
