Student answer (Band 5.5)
Dear Mr and Mrs,
Hope you are doing well. I am writing a letter to you, that I have seen an advertisement you gave that you need someone to teach your two children your language for a year. I think I am suitable for this job and you have no regret to choose me for your children.
It is my speciality to try children in a better way. I think this job is perfect for me because you can teach children when your patience level is good, outstanding communication skills, and manage time to complete the tasks. And all of these things are present in me.
Another thing, I can also support you in your daily work. I know you are alone at home and you managing your all tasks alone. I really appreciate you. After teaching the children I can help you in your kitchen.
I need this job because I need a good salary that you can also gives your children teacher after teach your children. The reason is that, I buy my mother medicines because she is ill. Hope you will understand.
Kind regards,
Naseem Javed

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address all three requested points: you explain your suitability, offer help with household tasks, and give a personal reason for wanting the position. The reference to your patience, communication skills and time management is relevant, as is your wish to help your ill mother. However, several ideas are asserted rather than clearly explained. For example, “It is my speciality to try children in a better way” does not make your teaching experience or approach clear, and the salary sentence is difficult to understand. Develop your suitability with a specific example, such as how you have taught children before, and explain more clearly what you could contribute to family life. The letter is on task, but some parts remain limited or unclear.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The letter has a recognisable structure: an opening, separate paragraphs for your suitability and extra help, and a closing. This makes the main points reasonably easy to locate. You also use basic links such as “Another thing” and “because” to connect ideas. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear, particularly where the list of qualities leads to “all of these things are present in me.” The sentence about the salary and your mother’s medicines also combines ideas without a clear relationship. Some references, such as “you are alone at home,” are not established by the task and interrupt the flow. Use clearer topic sentences and connect each supporting detail directly to the point it explains.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is sufficient to communicate the main purpose, with relevant terms such as “patience,” “communication skills,” “manage time,” and “medicines.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations sound unnatural or make the meaning unclear. “Try children in a better way” does not convey your teaching ability, while “you can also gives your children teacher” is difficult to interpret. “In your kitchen” is understandable but less natural than a phrase such as “help with cooking.” Aim to use precise expressions for teaching experience, household support and your motivation, and check that each phrase means what you intend. More accurate collocations would make your message easier to follow.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You communicate using mostly simple sentences and attempt some longer structures, including “I think this job is perfect for me because…” and “The reason is that…”. However, errors are frequent, and some make the relationships between ideas difficult to understand. Examples include “I am writing a letter to you, that I have seen,” “you managing your all tasks,” and “you can also gives.” These involve sentence construction, missing or incorrect verb forms, and agreement. The phrase “after teach your children” also needs a correctly formed verb. Practise building accurate sentences with a subject and finite verb, and check verb forms after modal verbs and prepositions. Greater control of these patterns would make your ideas clearer.
