Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir,
I am writing to express my strong interest for a job that you just posted online on the Facebook.
Recently, I saw a job posting on your facebook profile regarding Hindi language lessons. I believe that I can perform this role very well because I used to be a language teacher. Moreover, I have extensive work experience working with children.
I can set up online lectures for Hindi language course in spite of living in different country. However, I am also avaliable to teach other subjects to your children such as Maths, History. I can provide lactures on weekdays evenings as well as weekend mornings. I am also open to change my lacture timings whenever it needed. Nevertheless, I would like to pursue my career in teaching field therefore, this job will help me to build my future.
Let me know if you would like to see my resume, I will send it to you in email.
Yours sincerely,
Neel Patel

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address the main requirements by explaining your teaching experience, offering to teach other subjects, and giving a reason for wanting the role. The details about your experience with children and your availability make the application relevant. However, the reason for wanting the job is only briefly stated: “this job will help me to build my future” does not explain what specifically attracts you to teaching these children or living and working with the family. Your offer to help with other subjects is useful, but could be developed with a little more detail. A more complete response would also make the letter feel directly addressed to the couple rather than to an unspecified employer, and clarify whether the lessons would be online or in person.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The letter has a clear overall structure: you introduce your interest, describe your suitability and possible contributions, explain your motivation, and close by offering your résumé. Paragraphing helps the reader follow these points. Some connections are less effective or mechanical, however. “Nevertheless” does not express a contrast with the preceding offer of flexible lesson times, and “Moreover” is used appropriately but the ideas around it remain somewhat list-like. The shift from teaching online to being available at particular times could also be linked more clearly. To improve progression, group related information together and use transitions that show the actual relationship between ideas, such as adding a separate sentence explaining why this opportunity appeals to you.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for an application letter, including “strong interest,” “extensive work experience,” and “open to change my lecture timings.” These phrases communicate your intentions, though some choices are inaccurate or unnatural and reduce precision. For example, “interest for a job” is less idiomatic than “interest in the position,” and “lectures” is not the usual term for lessons given to children. There are also spelling errors in “Facebook,” “available,” and “lectures,” alongside repetition of “job” and “children.” Choose vocabulary that fits a family teaching role and proofread spelling carefully. More precise wording would make your experience and the support you can offer sound more professional.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and more complex sentence forms, and your meaning is generally clear. For instance, “I believe that I can perform this role very well because I used to be a language teacher” combines a main clause with a reason, while the availability sentence attempts to express flexibility. Some grammatical and punctuation errors remain. In “I am also open to change my lecture timings whenever it needed,” the verb pattern and clause construction need correction; for example, “I am also willing to change my lesson times whenever needed.” The sentence beginning “Let me know if…” joins two independent clauses with a comma, so use a full stop or a conjunction. Review articles, prepositions, and punctuation in longer sentences to improve control.
