Dear .................. ,

Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear Sir,

I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to express my interest for teaching English language to your children.

I would be a suitable choice for your children as I know your native language. It would be easy for your children to understand basic commands in native language. Recently, I completed my bachelors in English. Moreover, I have experience of teaching primary students.

In addition to this, I can help them doing their homework. I will create a friendly environment for the children so they can learn freely and participate in regular activities.

During the course, I will try to help them in exploring culture and visiting new places.

This would enhance their communication skills.

With this job, I would be able to pay my rents. Additionally, this would be benifical for my teaching career.

Please do not hesitate if you have any question.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Yours sincerely,

Samra Javed

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address all three requested points: you explain your suitability through your English degree and experience teaching primary pupils, offer help with homework and cultural activities, and give reasons for wanting the position. The ideas are relevant, but some are less fully developed than others. For example, “I would be able to pay my rents” gives a personal reason, while the benefit to your teaching career is only briefly stated. More importantly, the task asks you to teach the couple’s language, but you say you are interested in teaching English and that you know “your native language”; clarify which language you can teach and how your knowledge makes you suitable. Developing these details would make the letter more complete and persuasive.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The letter has a clear overall arrangement: an opening statement, a paragraph about your qualifications, details of additional help, and a polite closing. Linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “In addition to this,” and “Additionally” help show how points relate. However, several ideas are placed in short, separate sentences, and the sequence within the middle section could be smoother. For instance, the statements about creating a friendly environment, exploring culture, visiting places, and improving communication skills would connect more clearly if you explained how these activities support the children’s learning. Some transitions also feel formulaic. Grouping related offers together and using clearer references to the children and the language lessons would strengthen progression.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use an adequate range for a formal letter, including phrases such as “express my interest,” “friendly environment,” and “communication skills.” These make your purpose and offers understandable. However, some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, including “interest for teaching,” “help them doing their homework,” and “pay my rents.” The spelling error “benifical” also affects accuracy. “Native language” is repeated and is unclear in context, particularly because the task concerns teaching your language to the children. Aim for more precise expressions such as “apply to teach,” “help them with their homework,” and “cover my rent,” and check spelling carefully. More natural, specific vocabulary would make the letter sound more fluent and professional.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple sentences and some more developed structures, including “I will create a friendly environment for the children so they can learn freely” and “I would be a suitable choice … as I know your native language.” Most of the message remains clear, and errors do not generally prevent understanding. Some grammatical patterns need attention: “I am writing to express my interest for teaching” should use a different preposition and construction, while “I can help them doing their homework” needs a corrected verb pattern. The sentence beginning “It would be easy for your children to understand basic commands in native language” also needs clearer article use and reference. Practise accurate verb patterns and articles, while continuing to use a range of sentence structures.
