Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear sir

I, Taksh Prajapati a senior IELTS faculty at Kanan International, writing this letter to inform you that yesterday i saw your advertisement in local news paper and I am interested in teaching english language to your kids for one year.

There are many reasons which makes me fit for the position of english faculty. Firstly, I have been teaching this language to my students since last 3 years so i possess deep knowledge of this subject. Secondly, I love to teach kids as its easy for me to make them understand different concepts of thisn new language.

Moreover, I can help them in their academics. I also have more than 5 years of teaching experience in core subjects like mathematics and science so i will also help them to complete their homework. Additionally, I will also conduct a few test at the end of every week to make sure that they are learning the subject thoroughly.

Furthermore, the main reason for wanting the job is that during the last year of my college i was unable to get the scholarship sponsored by the government. As a result, i suffered a huge financial loss and its mandatory for me to pay the fees for this semester.

Thank you for your time and assistance. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Yours sincerely

Taksh

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

The letter addresses all three requested points: you explain your teaching experience, offer help with mathematics, science and homework, and give a reason for wanting the position. The details about teaching for three years and conducting weekly tests make your suitability reasonably clear. However, the final reason focuses mainly on your financial difficulty, so it is less developed as a positive explanation of why this particular family or role appeals to you. The offer to support the children’s wider studies is relevant, though it could be explained more specifically. To strengthen the response, connect your motivation to teaching children, sharing your language or living in Australia, while retaining the personal financial context if appropriate.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The information is arranged in a clear sequence: you introduce your interest, explain your qualifications, describe additional help, and then give your motivation. Paragraphing supports this progression, and signposts such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” “Moreover” and “Furthermore” help the reader follow the points. The organisation is effective overall, although the repeated use of explicit transition words makes some links feel mechanical. The opening sentence also combines several pieces of information, which slightly weakens the flow. Use a wider range of linking methods, including pronouns and natural connections between ideas, and separate the introduction into shorter sentences. A more conventional greeting and closing would also make the letter feel more consistently shaped for its audience.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough vocabulary to communicate the main points, including “teaching experience,” “core subjects” and “financial loss.” However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “senior IELTS faculty” for a person, “local news paper,” and “make them understand different concepts.” There are also spelling and capitalisation slips, including “thisn” and repeated lowercase “i” and “english.” These issues do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, but they limit precision and naturalness. Aim for accurate, audience-appropriate phrases such as “English teacher,” “local newspaper,” and “help them understand new concepts,” and proofread spelling and capitalisation carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The letter includes both simple and more complex forms, for example the sentence beginning “As a result” and the clause “to make sure that they are learning.” Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. In the opening, “I … writing” needs a finite verb (“I am writing”), and “There are many reasons which makes me” has a subject–verb agreement error. Other examples include “since last 3 years,” “as its easy,” and “a few test,” where tense or article/plural forms need correction. Sentence boundaries and punctuation also need attention, particularly in the long opening sentence. Review verb forms, agreement, articles and plurals, and aim for a greater proportion of accurate sentences while retaining varied structures.
